Hello Manu2015,

Please can I mention that you can contact us at FMAUK and speak to a lady called Janet who deals with all our benefit queries and who can provide you with guides about benefits should you wish to consider this as an option.

She can also provide information about your work rights & reasonable adjustments should you be able to work with your employer to make the workload easier to manage due to your Fibro symptoms that may be affecting your work life.

As for leaving you job I would consider speaking someone either from your local Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB) or Disability information & Advice Line (DIAL) about the situation before thinking about making any hasty decisions. I believe if you leave you have a period in which you cannot claim benefits but please do check this information with these organisations.

Links to CAB & DIAL here;

scope.org.uk/support/disabl...

If you would like to contact our benefit helpline to speak to Janet you can email her using: benefitsadvice@fmauk.org

I understand how difficult it can be as the work you do may be impacting on your Fibro and probably then making it then much harder. I hope with the help of the advice you may receive you can make the best decision that is right for you. Hopefully, then the stress will be less and this might see further a reduction in your symptoms.

I wish you all the best

I am so genuinely sorry to read that and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

If you leave work then you cannot claim any benefit for three months and you will be seen as making yourself unemployed. I went to my doctor and told him what was going on and he signed me off sick for a month so I could rest, after six months of being off sick I had a meeting at work and explained what was going on with my health they tried to make me resign and i said I couldn't resign because I was a single parent and therefore the only person bringing an income in so they sacked me! I started a new job but got ill and have not been able to return to work since because my fibro has deteriorated too much. The doctor is signing me off sick again due to my fibro and I claim ESA and have also made a claim for pip. It was a very difficult situation to be in but I had to accept that I just an not well enough to work right now.

My advice to you would be pay all your bills upto date, fill your cupboard and fridge/freezer up and then speak to your boss if they offer no help ask your doctor to sign you off sick and take it from there. I cut my hours before I went off sick the first time to see if that would help. It is hard but if you are really struggling go straight to your doctor and ask to be signed off to give yourself and your boss time to make any adjustments that could help or if you have to leave your job ask that they either make you redundant or sack you to ensure you can claim benefits so you have some income to help keep a roof over your head ect.

Hello Manu2015,

If this is how you are feeling I would consider making an emergency appointment to see your GP to discuss both the impact your condition is having on you & your work plus the stress you are under. S/he may decide you need to take some time off work. I would also consider asking for a blood test as lack of Vitamin D, B12 etc may also be impacting on the Fibro.

You may also like to look at your medication when you are there too. Are you prescribed medications that are recommended? Here's the NHS link about Fibro;

nhs.uk/Conditions/Fibromyal...

Then I would say this may give you time to evaluate & get advice on the situation so you can best move forward.

I am sending all the best & hoping you feel better later.
