Making a successful claim for PIP is not easy but it does not affect any other benefit that you may get. If your husband requires enough care for you to get carers allowance he may be able to claim PIP as well, if he doesn't already get either that or DLA.

PIP is based on how whatever condition you have affects you daily. It has 2 parts, personal care and mobility, and each part has a standard rate and an enhanced rate. It would be worth your while making an application as you have nothing to lose but I would get help from either your local Citizen's advice bureau or welfare rights office. Good luck, Linda.

Tracy, PIP does not impact on any other benefit. It is awarded on how much your condition impacts on your day to day life. I am pretty sure it is possible to get carers and PIP but I would check with your local CAB or welfare rights office, just to be sure.

Yes Linda has given you good advice about claiming PIP and if you are a carer and do lose your job there might be other benefits such as Income Support you can claim.

Do get the help of someone like the Citizens Advice as they are very knowledgeable about filling in forms the right way.

If there is no CAB by you contact one of our administrators and they can arrange for you to have access to the relevant Benefit and Works guides such as the one for claiming PIP. If you need to work out your entitlement to any benefit if you go on the Gov.Uk site there is a benefit calculator.

Good luck with everything, keep in touch with us so we know how you are getting on.x
