Hi Claire, I love the sound of relaxation therapy. It certainly sounds like you have a very thorough GP. I have had hydrotherapy, but only for 5 of the maximum 6 weeks. Initially I was exhausted as although it didn't seem like I was doing much I was obviously doing more than I had anticipated. By week 3 I was fine though and it did help with the pain and stiffness. I do go to my local pool now but the water isn't nearly as warm and there are always folk who want to swim lengths in peace while I am trying to walk across the pool, so the benefits are nowhere near as good. I go to stop me seizing up completely. Good luck, Linda
Like Lruk i am going for hydrotherapy at the moment. It is very helpful for me to exercise in water as it takes the strain off of my joints and leaves me less stiff and consequently less painful. It is exhausting to start with but really look forward to it now. Any kind of relaxation therapy us helpful as it lessens the tension in the muscles and therefore lessens the pain. I do not know of activ 8 or cicrcuit therapy but would advise against doing too much suddenly as this csn leave you beyond exhausted. Good luck all sounds positive.
Sorry that you did not get any good advice on pain relief, but hopefully some of the other stuff may help with your pain, and if it doesn't let them know! I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck with your treatments and therapies.
I had 6 weeks of hydrotherapy and adored it as I am a water baby should have been born a fish. It seems so much easier to exercise in the gorgeously warm water and it was good to be with others doing the exercises. If I could have carried on I would have done as the physio was marvellous and very supportive would have gone every day if they would let me. I find the water in swimming pools too cool now.
The relaxation therapy sounds divine. Not so sure what your circuit training will involve sounds like something you do in the army. I am sure others will help you out with this.
Do let us know how you ge on and whether it has any benefits.x
