I had my PiP assessment meeting on 22nd January, after applying last June 2014. Today I received a letter telling me that they have received my report but will now use it as one of the reports they select for an audit and quality check. The letter said this does not affect the final decision making.
Has anyone else had this and does it slow the process down?

It should not make any difference to you, they are trying to make sure that all the assessors are marching to the same drum and not wildly different in the way they work.
I don't think it will make any difference as Mayrose has said. When I used to advise on Benefits I had quite a few people come to me very worried as they had applied for a benefit and then had someone visit them to do a quality check. It actually could be beneficial as they will really go over your claim and will make sure the assessors and decision makers have crossed all the t's and dotted the i's and not made any mistakes. I know one gentleman I reasurred about the process was thrilled as the auditors found out that the assessors had made quite a large error and he was in fact entitled to much greater benefits than had originally been decided on.
Hi, thanks for your update. The letter said they would be doing a quality check on the report so I thought they would be going over the actual report rather than having a visit. I have already had the health visit.
Sorry probably mislead you not too good tonight and a bit fibro fog so forgot to put in a bit more detail that would have explained things better. . The benefits I was advising on at the time were a mixture such as Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit and they used to quite understandably panic when they were informed that there cases were going to be checked for accurancy. Bbecause they were benefits for older people who might have got confused by telephone calls or letters they tended to make a home visit in our area to check over paperwork, circumstances, etc to see that the clients case had been processed correctly. Yes in your case they will be checking just on how the assessors etc have done their job sorry if I confused you, I could confuse a saint somedays.
Just hope that everything goes well for you and that you hear good news soon.x
Replying to your bit about prescriptions you can get a pre paid cert for £29.50 that lasts 3 months, you can have as many prescriptions on it as u need. Your local pharmacy should give u the number. Hope this helps.
Standard business audit procedures generally require picking a requested number of files out randomly. It's considered a fair way of audit assessment. The audit will be done on the department/business/assessor and not the person's whose file happens to be picked.
I think they are required to let you know because of data protection as an auditor will have access to your file, of course.
I wouldn't worry, may be a bonus in that your file will be checked as being correct in process, time frames etc..
Hi i was wondering if u could hep with a dilema im having with PIP
last week i had my atos assement, the lady was very nice and i had my mum come with me and she explained in full detail my medical history, good days and bad days, and how bad my condition is at the moment
After the assesment the lady said that she will send of all of the evidence i provided and her assement she said it could take 6-8 weeks to receive a decision and that i would receive a letter saying my claim is in audit
Yesterday i received a rejection letter saying they based to evidence for the decision on one thing, my how your disabality affects you form
There was nothing in the letters about the evidence i provided or the atos assesment
Could this be that they have not yet received the infomation from the atos lady?
Should i just wait and see if another letter comes through the door?
Hi, I am sorry to hear this. They can't make the decision without having the assessment info, I would now contact them to find out a bit more and to challenge their decision.
