Which sleep &/or pain relief meds???

I used to sleep like a baby on Amitriptyline but ended up on 50mgs. I eventuallyweaned myself off it after 8 yrs because I'd gained 2 stone. Trazodone 100mgs helps my depression but it's useless for sleep. I'm now relying on sleeping pills every night and get about 7-8 hrs but the pain is just awful and is making me weary. I'm seeing my GP next week but I don't know what I want him to give me. I could try a low dose of Amitriptyline alongside the Trazodone (which seems to be keeping my weight down actually) but I'm scared of side effects in general. All other drugs he's suggested I've read up on and dismissed. Please just shoot me, this is all getting too much.

Sorry you are suffering so. We all react differently to fibro meds, I cant touch any of the main ones, earlier this year I was given paroxatine, one at night, its an ssri. I sleep --but you might react differently, last night I didnt sleep, the pain was too much. You should get a referral to pain clinic

Hi,

My heat goes out for you. I have had fibro for 30 years and the only thing that helped me sleep is low dose Naltrexone (LDN), which you need a script for and you can get it only at a compounding pharmacy. I went straight on 4.5mg and because I sleep so much better the pain is less. I live in Namibia, Africa but you can google the info and I am sure you will have compounding pharmacies in your area.

Hi NWG23

I am so sorry to read of the issues that you are suffering with, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to your sleep problem. I have read many posts from members about all kinds of Fibro medications such as Pregablin and Gabapentin, and most members say that they have gained weight due to their medications. So there is no easy answer I am afraid to say?

As the others have said, we are unique individuals and we all react differently to both our Fibro and our medications, so it may be worth giving something else a try that you are not sure about as it may just work for you? I want to wish you all the best of luck.

All y hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thanks everyone, pity there isn't a golden bullet for this condition. Best wishes to you all. NWG23
