Thank you, interesting links. As a psychologist who studied neuro-physiology and also analytic psychotherapy I have always suggested that fibro is one consequence of the body system being overwhelmed - either by trauma or by high levels of ongoing stress. I think women are more sensitive to readings signals from their bodies and as a result when there are things they feel unable to cope with they experience those feelings of helplessness and feel overwhelmed, this in turn stresses the body further like a biofeedback loop. It will be interesting for me to see whether research backs any of those ideas :)

Interesting read, notice at the end of the report that here in Britain they are still looking into fibro being a sleep disorder, maybe I'm feeling a bit tetchy today but I'm kept awake by pain, I used to sleep well. I think it is all a work in progress. xx

Only another addition for clinical evidence that cuts down the somataform disorder theories

yes but I have all those symptoms too ;-)

More serious blood tests show I have Epstein Barr Virus in my blood and other tests showed that I conduct pain very efficiency.

Hard evidence from testing is much better than the nothing unusual make a theory fit the symptoms often employed.

yes when you doubt yourself and wonder if you are going mad having actual results help.

No meds for 72 hours for the test deserves a medal as big as a frying pan in recognition of the heroics displayed - absolutely awesome achievement taking part.

I get cheesed off reading about how many millions of Americans have fibromyalgia, why isnt a study done world wide to see how many globally suffer from it, and defining degrees of it, because fibromyalgia for me, has become even more debilitating the older I get

Yes they seem to be much more proactive about fibro in America I subscribe to one of the websites on health for fibro and it looks as though they are really actively looking for cures and spending alot of money whereas in the UK it is definately at the end of the queue.x
