Hi, I am new to this site. I have never posted on a site like this before. I have 4 stones to lose. I am a full time carer for my daughter who has autism and epilepsy. I myself have health issues fibromyalgia, depression and tinnitus just to name a few. I am needing motivation and I have been told by health professionals that I need to be doing things for me when my daughter is in school. So here I am. I need advice or suggestions as to where I start. I have tried many many different diets but I've never had success with any of them.

Welcome to the site. if you click on the FibroAction logo it will take you to our Mother Site where you can get alot of information about all the different aspects of Fibro.

I am so sorry that your life is so difficult for you as it sounds as though as a carer you have enough to contend with without being ill yourself.

I think they are right that you should do something for yourself as it is easy to get depressed with the responsibility of caring and your own problems and comfort eat and then feel so tired that exercise is impossible.

Often your local library or council website will have information about what is happening within your community for groups and exercise classes. There are some exercises called Extend that are very gentle and might be the way forward for you and then you can gradually build things up as your strength and fitness returns. What did you used to like doing, if it is reading why don;t you join a reading group as there are different sorts I go to one where we read a novel and poem as a group and another where we take a book away read it and then come back and discuss it. We are now starting to read a book and then seeing the film that it relates to. I know if you are suffering from depression that the first time you have to go can be quite a frightening experience but I think you will find most groups are very welcoming to new members. have you got a friend amongst the mothers of the children that go to your daughters school that you could join something with. If you feel that you can;t join anything at the moment try to pick up on a hobby that you could do at home to take your mind off things, you will notice we have a Creative Corner here where you might get some inspiration for things to do.

I don;t know whether you have got reliant on TV meals as I call them but just cooking something from scratch can give you a good feeling and starting to substitute more fruit and veg into your diet instead of carbs might help. Could these health professionals get you an appointment to see a dietician to put you on the right track.

Let us know how you get on with things. You will find this is a warm, welcoming site and there is usually someone around who can give you a bit of help and support. Warm hugs.xxxx

Hi Kazmac001

I sincerely hope that you are feeling well today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I genuinely hope that you find the forum useful, informative and loads of fun!

It may be better to ask you, what do you enjoy? What would you like to do for you? If you enjoy swimming this is great for weight loss and muscle tone. If you enjoy a good walk this would also help. But ultimately it must be something that you enjoy and want to do so it is sustainable.

I want to wish you all the best of luck with this.

All my hopes and dreams for you
