ESR & Hemaglobin ...

I phoned for my blood results today.

My ESR levels were 29 and my Hemaglobin levels were 12.8.

I've to get my ESR & full blood count done again.

I've yet to make an appointment to go over the results as these were just over the phone. But could anyone explain these a little? I know that ESR is inflammation levels.

Just checked and found for women under 50 should be 20 or under. It appears to indicate imflamatory / autoimmune disease.

Hi sian, happy that you find them useful. I do not know a lot about the subject but they are easy enough to compare the numbers.

Take care

Hello Charlie_red,

Please can i provide you with this link and passage from our Expert Patient range you may find helpful;

There are certain signs and symptoms that could suggest something other than, or as well as, Fibro may be going on. Examples include:

Inflammation, whether noticeable in yourself, or showing up in the blood tests ESR and CRP. Responding well to treatment with corticosteroids, which are not recommended for Fibro (as stated in the EULAR recommendations for the management of Fibro) is often a sign of inflammation as these medications work by reducing inflammation. Some patients find that their pain and fatigue improve dramatically when given corticosteroids, such as Prednisolone, for other problems such as allergic reactions and this is usually a sign that something other than Fibro is going on
