Everything I eat or drink tastes very salty I cannot bear it, anyone have any ideas as to why this happens? Or what I can do to get rid!

my gums and tongue seem very tender the last few days just as though they have been burnt (only way I can explain it) and I seem to be tasting all flavours as though they are very enhanced, I have this from time to time for about 3/4 days at a time and as mysteriously as it comes it then goes away. I'm sorry I can't suggest anything that will help but hope it rights itself soon but Just wondered whether you have had a change in medication recently?

Hi thanks for your response! Yes Doctors changed my ad's from mirtazapine to venlafaxine do you think this could be it?

Hi love I have started cymbalta and I got no taste buds now lolxx

Could very well be the case. I think we fibromites are very sensitive to alot of things and our bodies often react to anything new, hopefully if it is the meds your body might soon get used to it and you will go back to how you were. Fingers crossed for youx

I am so sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue and I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for. I must admit that I have been prescribed medication that has this effect on me and I can openly sympathise with you as it really is unpleasant!

Like rosewine I too get the 'burnt mouth/tongue' sensation but it does not appear to be connected to meds and It does pass after a few days. Also get a bitter or metallic taste in my mouth. Maybe yet another symptim to notch up to Fibro!
