I joined the RA group but seen specialist today and I've either got ra or Fibro. Can anyone tell me how their diagnosis went. I'm not sure what is happening with me, bit confused!

Hellodolly what a lovely picture.

First welcome to the site. I can understand you being confused, but Ra and fibro have many symptoms in common. has your doctor made you an appointment with a Rhumatologist yet?

They would be the best to see to get a definete diagnosis But don`t expect to get one right away. A lot of tests need to be done before fibro can be diagnosed. They need to exclude other illnesses first. because there is not as yet one single test that will give a diagnosis of fibro.

It would help you to understand more by going onto the mother site. If you go to the top of the page and click on the yellow butterfly that will take you to the fibroaction site where you will find loads of information.

have a good look round and then come back to us with any questions that you may have or just for the company or a chat.

See you later hugs sue xx

I saw the rhumy today! Being sent for bone scans and had bloods done. Didn't realise how long this all takes. Just wanna know what's wrong and get some treatments

I know it is difficult not knowing. A lot on the site had fibro for many years before getting a diagnosis. I had mild symptoms for 25 yrs and it was only after a major flair 4yrs ago that I was diagnosed. Be patient, once you have a diagnosis you can begin to find out what meds are best for you. In the meantime stay in touch and we will do our best to help you through. :)

Hi Dolly84

I am so sorry to read that you are confused by all of this, and I am not surprised as it all should have been explained to you! As mayrose54 has already said to you, many of the symptoms are very similar. There are some tests that can be done to check for Fibro and they are called 'tender points trigger testing, I have pasted you a Webmd link below to look at:

webmd.com/fibromyalgia/guid...

Your blood tests will look for many different things in your blood that could indicate many differing illnesses and conditions. I presume your bone scan was a DEXA scan? I have pasted you a link about this below:

nhs.uk/conditions/dexa-scan...

I want to wish you all the best of luck with all of this, and if you ever have any questions please feel free to ask?

All my hopes and dreams for you

I genuinely hope that no matter what your diagnosis is that you receive some really good medical treatment and have sufficient pain management.

Take care

Hi Dolly, what are your symptoms? Also this sounds crazy but look at your finger nails at the cuticle at the half moons. How many do you have? I have 3 small ones out of 10. I once read that's a sign of fibromyalgia. Hope this is helpful!!! xxxx Mitzi

Can't even see my 'moons' atm. My nails are not flat anymore tho, they look quite rigid. I have severe pains in my joints, knees, wrists, hands shoulders - worst ones. I'm very tired all the time. I've put on weight from being less mobile
