Hi Caroline - it sounds as though you are having a really bad time abd you have my sympathy as all the same symptoms as myself. There are no specific blood tests they can do that shows fibro but they can often diagnose because of your symptoms and tender points. I don't know what medication you are on at the moment but they might be able to prescribe painkillers and medication such as Pregablin (lyrica) which has certainly helped me with the burning, shoooting pains and sometimes they prescribe low levels of anti depressant drugs which also help some people with the pain. Do keep us updated with your progress and good luck at the clinicx

Hi Caroline47,

I am also on Gabapentin (1200), tramadol (800) and tamazapam (10mg) - how are you finding these help you with the pain - they seem to do very little for me, I have my first pain clinic appointment in July (booked it back in october) - so nervous as to how it will go and what to ask for?

I take 700mg of gabapentin 3 times aday. I take tramadol 8 tablets aday and mirtazapine 30mg at night and no i don't think they help the pain xx

Hi caroline47

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I have pasted you a link below for NHS Choices, living with chronic pain, so I hope that you find this useful:

nhs.uk/Livewell/Pain/Pages/...

I have also pasted you the NHS Choices link from The Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle. It relates to their pain management clinic so it will give you an idea of what to expect, so I really hope that this is useful for you:

nhs.uk/Services/hospitals/S...

The other two link below are from the webmd service. The first shows how the tender point testing works for the diagnosis of Fibro, and the second, is a slide show of where they test, I think these will be very useful for you:

webmd.com/fibromyalgia/ss/s...

I want to wish you all the best of luck, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to these issues.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x
