Yes you can, its very difficult to get and I'm sure you will be turn down first time so appeal, I applied for it a couple of years ago, they said no, I didn't appeal as I didn't have the energy to be honest, I will try again when I feel to a fight.

Good luck x

I get DLA high rate care and mobility but got turned down first try. Then I went to DIAL who helped me with the form and I got awarded low rate.As my fibro got worse I had someone from CAB fill the form out for me and I got high rate.Do you know that it has been changed to PIP now and it is harder to get but if you get help from CAB and send in enough info as possible then that will give you more of a chance. Please also remember to base it on your worst day with your symptoms xxx

Yes you can I also have high rate. X

I suffer with depresion & asthma, I have just recently been diognosed with fibromyalgia and have applied for pip (DLA) again as mine ran out in march and was to ill to fill it in, have just had a nice lady come out from the Patworth Trust and help me fill mine in, will let you know how I get on, good luck

Hi There learzo

You should apply anyway but its PIP now not DLA and there are slight differences if you click on the fibroaction butterfly in the right hand corner of the screen it will take you a wealth of information including a section about benefits. You can also download forms I think! Check out Mdaisy's post from yesterday because it has a direct link :o

It would be better to get help from an advocacy service such as the CAB, Welfare Rights or DIAL whichever you have access to where you live :) They know what to write and how to word things. Before filling it in brainstorm each of your individual illnesses from Migraines to bad back......... everything. It also beneficial to know what medications you take for what :)

I used Welfare Rights I have Fibromyalgia, Hypermobility, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, IBS, Depression and anxiety to name a few for example.

Hope this helps and remember we are a friendly site and there is always someone here who will listen and offer advice. :)

Many warming and healing fluffie cuddles for you

Hi, it depends how your condition affects you day to day. Not everyone can get DLA just for having the diagnosis:-) As you know the government are cutting back on benefits. You will be applying for the new benefit called PIP and it replaces DLA.

These days you may have to go to a medical assessment to see how bad your pain, mobility, etc, is. Please do apply and don't be put off if you get knocked back the first time. Hugs x

I get DLA and mobility allowance. As others have said, you usually get turned down the first time you apply and you have to appeal. That happened to me and it was really hard finding the courage and strength to appeal, but I was given it after that.

Do get professional advice and help to fill out the form from someone like the CAB, I couldn't have done it without.

Good luck!
