The lady with fibro was the one that lived on her own with her Dog and kept all her finances up to date on a spreadsheet.

Hi tiggerfan

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? That sounds brilliant, anything that can help draw attention to Fibro and the suffering it causes has to be good news! Thank you so much for sharing this.

Take care

Hi Julie63

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I have seen a trailer for this, but I don't really watch much TV. I just watch a bit of what my wife likes on telly. I do not think she will want to watch it, as there are no American, cops, detectives or CSI people in it? And that's what she watches.

Hope that you enjoy it.

Hi mayrose54

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Thank you so much for you post, it is genuinely appreciated. I told Linda that I had a special friend who wants me to give her a big hug and she said, 'yes please, I like hugs.' So it was really appreciated also.

Take care my friend

I also watched this, I felt that the fibro issue was under played, she said she had to quit her job due to the pain, I expected them to show how the fatigue would affect her, how she needed her heating on etc. it showed her looking after and carrying her grandson around, I sincerely wish I could do that with my granddaughter and she's a lot smaller !!!! She also seemed to walk around without much stiffness, then at the end it stated she was now looking for a jod.

Please don't get me wrong I wish this lady all the very best and I do hope she can find the job that she's happy and comfortable with. I know this makes me sound very harsh but when it came on and she said she had fibro I thought great someone pointing this awful illness that we have to live with :(

in reply toPennie1

Don't worry Pennie

You won't be the only one thinking that I would imagine :)

I didn't know at the time of watching that she had Fibro because I missed that bit but I do agree it didn't represent my Fibro either.

Yes Pennie I agree. I only kept watching because of the fibro issue and felt disappointed that she got the least air time and as you say then went on to look for a job. She was also able to carry her toddler grandson which is wonderful for her but I felt it was a poor representation of fibro sufferers. Will those who don't understand the condition now think all fibro sufferers should get a job? The amount of times people have said 'but you look okay' to me. She should have been given the chance to discuss her day to day living and background as the other families were.

I agree with feeling let down about how little air time was given to the fibro lady. I thought there was going to be an explanation of fibro, which is why I posted a heads up on here. My daughter& me were disappointed by how little detail was on screen, and she was able to do so much! But at least there were people who were helped, and attention was focused on food poverty. Pennie thats how I thought exactly ..just couldnt find the right words to put my point across, you dont sound harsh. It did look like she was having especially good days while being filmed and hopefully will not give people the impression that people suffering fibro are all so able.

I watched.....in this day and age putting food on our plates should not be an obstacle course to face everyday whether we are ill or not!

Children should not have to go without its a disgrace to be honest !!

Hi angelicscripts

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I agree with you whole heartedly, in this country, in this day and age, no child (and no person) you ever go without a meal.

Take care

Hi Pennie 1

Thank you for your post - almost word for word what I thought when watching.

I'm thoroughly disappointed that the Star didn't take the time to look up the illness on the internet as there was obviously a laptop available or bother to discuss with the lady how Fibro affects people with this condition and the difficulties faced by those with chronic pain ailments cope on a day to day basis.

When the Star stated a couple of times that she didn't know why exactly she was there, I was totally disappointed! If anyone missed it, you may be able to catch it on BBC iPlayer.

Stay strong, Stay Positive

Fight the Fibro!!!

I agree with the comments made, I think the lady (& condition) were poorly represented and they made it look as though she didn't need any help.

I must admit that when they showed her walking along carrying her grandson, I couldn't help but think I wish I could walk! or carry my young daughter!

The other families were of course in awful situations and needed help, but I do feel that an opportunity was missed with this programme & once again those with an illness/disability were portrayed as being able to work if they choose to. Such a shame!

What ends up in these programmes is down to the programme makers, so there could have been more information on fibro, but it did not survive the final cut. I think they were more focused on the man with the two lovely boysas a heart wrenching story.
