Eyes won't focus. Is that fibro or a side effect of amitriptaline? Or am I actually needing to see an optician?

Happens at night usually when I'm tired. Like now. Lucky I can touch type!!! Can'r read texts on my phone and I can only just read this as I write. It's all fuzzy. But iwhen I wake up in the morning I'll be fine again until afternoon or evening.

Sounds like your eyes get really dry as the day goes on. I had same. Amazing how eye drops (I use allergan refresh) improve focus x

Thanks crop. That's a good tip. We have some allergy eye drops at home because my son needs them! Will try!

No preservatives - that's what stings, irritates the eyes..

Hi Apple, I'd advise u 2 c ur optician 2 check it out. It could b something and nothing but always better 2 act with caution. My eyes felt like that, the only way I could describe it was morning vision. It felt like u know sometimes u wake up and ur eyes r all fuzzy and not focusing properly 2 u give them a rub only rubbing them doesn't solve it now. It turns out I'd a cataract in my left eye and I had op almost 3yrs ago. It's now happening again in my right eye so Iv 1st app with specialist at start of next mth and hopefully have my second op next Easter. I found

it hard as I'm only 46 and thought it only happened to old people....lol. Hope it turns out 2 b nothing and easily cured xx

Poor you. That's rubbish. My mother in law had cataracts and never got them treated til it was too late. Then she had an op that went wrong. Now she's in her 80's and virtually blind. I feel so sad for her coz she can't see her grandkids properly. I will book in for eye test but I don't think my problem has anything to do with that. It's just when I'm tired, as if my eyes as well as my body have given up!

do you have eye glasses that you wear or did they fix the vision while

they replaced the lense? My mother and father in law just had the

cataract surgery...no eye glasses seems like a miracle to both of them.

I had Lasik in 2001..I have 15/20 vision..had it checked last Friday.

I'm on amitriptaline as well. But my eyes seem to change daily, even the optician said so, so it could be normal for you. However, eyes are always worse, like everything else!, when you are tired. My eyes do get dry so maybe will try the eyedrops too.

Medicines can dry out the eyes, change the vision..our eyes take

a lot of abuse with the pollution, the wind, the sun..they go through

periods of not blinking..get dry, allergens in them...we have to take

care of them...my point is that some of the medicines that we take

for fibro or other conditions will affect the eyes first sometimes..

Hi, with myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) one of the symptoms is changing focus in your eyes - at one point I used to carry about 6 pairs of glasses with me to try to find a pair that I could read with - so frustrating. 70% of people with fibro also have MPS. For me, it went on getting worse and also caused eye pain until I had my lens in my eye changed for a false lens, the same as a cataract operation but I didn't have cataracts, and since then my eyes have been no problem. But my eye problem was really extreme so don't imagine that it will happen to many people. For my dry eyes I use Clinitas Soothe, its the only eye drop that works in making my eyes moist.

I went to the optician recently & he was very up on FM he explained that it affects the eyes & u need reg checks & eventually prisms in your glasses. Worth having them checled

I was told the same to get to the eye doctor at least once a year.

Just some of the medicines put my eyes at risk..anyone that

has diabetes should be going once a year without a doubt...

Try blinking repetitively...massage those tear ducts.. they are the just

below the eye..side closest to the nose..push on that area like you are pumping

breaks..it should release tears..and then blink a bunch of times..

It it continues, a visit to the eye doctor is a must...I have to use eye drops

occasionally..I had Lasik (eye refractive surgery) so my eyes are naturally more

dry..fact of life, worth the price...eye drops that have NO Preservatives, I repeat

NO Preservatives will soothe the eyes so much..Preservatives are what makes

the eyes red..irritated, they burn the eyes...so always read the ingredients..I am

not telling you what to do, I have my own experience with this particular problem

it's what I do for myself..Visine isn't acceptable for me..It has a vasoconstrictors

in it..(tightens the blood vessels or squeezes them) so natural tears work best or

bottled tears..again, no preservatives in the ingredients...and blink, blink, blink..or

shut your eyes as tight as you can and release..should bring everything back in

focus...=)))

I would def see optician. My eyes are awful and get worse if I dont get my glasses changed regularly. I have to go more often than I expected as fibro is playing havoc with all my muscles. Good luck xx
