I have recently started getting restless leg syndrome is this a symptom of fibro, it drives me crazy I can't sleep my legs won't rest,
Hi millymoll
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you have recently started with restless leg syndrome, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this problem.
I have pasted you the NHS Choices link for restless leg syndrome and I genuinely hope that you find it useful:
nhs.uk/conditions/Restless-...
I have read posts from many members who have the same issue as you and it is a part of Fibro for many of us. However, it can also be a sign of other things, so it is always best to get new symptoms checked out by your GP just to ensure that there is nothing else going on and to keep your GP up to date with how you are getting on.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken x

Hi millymoll
This is a question which often pops up and many members appear to have problems with it and it can be a symptom of fibromyalgia.
Ken has given you a useful link to NHS choices regarding what RLS is and it's symptoms so I'd like to give you a link to our 'About Fibro' section of our Mother site fibroaction.org where it discusses 'What Are The Symptoms' of Fibromyalgia. The page on the link can be downloaded as a printable Fact Sheet

Also, I thought you may like to read some other posts discussing RLS

I must stress that I'm not a doctor and any advice that I have written or which is in a link should never override the advice of your own medical care providers
Please go and speak to your GP about this as they may be able to help you

a pillow between your knees

Some people swear by a bar of soap put under your bottom sheet near your feet. I have never tried it as my restless legs are controlled with the drug Ropinerole.
I hope you find a solution soon because I know what kind of torture they can cause.
hugs sue xx
thank you for your reply that is a new one on me a bar of soap but who knows.at the moment they seem to have settled down with the help of the suppliments I am now taking .x
Hi there,
I hope you are not feeling too bad this morning. In answer to your question restless leg syndrome does appear to be a a troublesome symptom of fibro. My wife was diagnosed with fibro about 10 years ago. For the last couple of years she has suffered terribly with restless leg syndrome at night. It drives her to distraction every night.Best wishes
Stephen
thank you stephen ,my sympathy to your wife i know how she feels i get to sleep for about 30mins then my legs start i could scream sometimes xxx
Valerian tincture very old fashioned natural herb 20 drops in warm water just before bed and you will find it helps a great deal with restless leg syndrome . you can only get it from a real herbalist a proffesional but worth finding it its about 12 pounds a bottle but will last you a year or more safe to take two or three times a week if needed but my and hubbys restless legs are usualy fine for about three or four days after a dose, also check your salt levels a lot of people eat to much or to little salt
if you eat a bag of salty crisps and it gets worse your salt levels are to high cut down
if your symptoms improve well a bit more salt in your food
Try drinking tonic water in the evening
I had excruciating tail bone pain, sciatica pains down my legs connected to the TB pain and irritating RLS which use to start up in the evenings when I put my feet up.
My Doctor prescribed me with D3 as my bloods showed me to be vitamin D deficient.
2 days after taking the D3 for my vitamin deficiency my RLS has never returned, my tailbone and sciatica has also dissapeared apart from a few niggles now and then.
If I forget to take my D3 these pains come back with a vengeance.
Google D3 for yourself.
I get it , I just take some painkillers or a pain rub works for me x Hope it helps xx
I have had it for many years before I was diagnosed with fibro. After years of trying herbal remedies, acupuncture, etc I had to go on ropinerole prescribed by a neurologist. Firstly I would go to your gp as it can be a symptom of iron deficiency . x
Hi,
I get this very badly but find that since my GP prescribed Ropinerole, I do much better.
Hugs

When I started having restless legs a couple of years ago (after being diagnosed with fibro in 1993) I started taking Cymbalta at night instead of in the morning. This did the trick for me.
Yip sounds like me. After years and years I hope now I have conquered it. . . . Before getting into bed my bladder must be empty, avoid getting uncomfortable; plenty of fresh air in the room, comfy pillow, comfortable back and don't fight sleep and don't 'hold it in' go to the loo straight away. I know it sounds like normal pre-bed checks, but they are working for me. I try not drink a couple of hours before bed and make sure your feet are warm.
