Counselling..........

Yesterday I had my first counselling session, the reason for it : to help me to come to terms with my FMS and also get lots of problems off my chest relating to my employer!!!!

lovely lady, very nice to talk to. However I had to wonder if she was getting me!!!! I have been stuck in a rut for two/three years with my employers, trying to get pensioned out on ill health, however due to politics and government policies/ beuraucracy I am still employed, signed off sick and my life is on hold. There is nothing I can do to speed up the process, just have to keep nudging my HR department and remind them of policies etc in place for persons with disabilities etc....

Anyway, I basically can't move my life on as I do not know when all the work poo will come to and end and whether it will end up in a tribunal and at court.......

So bearing in mind we have to take each day as it comes due to flare ups etc she says to me before the next session I would like you to think about what you would like to be doing this time next year. Doesn't she think I think that everyday.....wishing i could move on with my life and get it back on track and get rid of the stress of my employers.

I think I might just say to her, this time next year.....I am going to be on a caribbean island sunning my body!!!!!

Am I too synical?? We will see what next week brings!!!! xx

well done for taking the first step in having counselling .. give someone a chance some people need educating at the end of the day you can ask to see another one . I am a counsellor and i have fms but like everyone we need to learn, not that it is your job ,however you can ask if she does understand ask her to resurch FMS give her the names of a web sight.. ask if she is cbt as this is goal orantated so she may have to fit into you .. somethimes mindfulness helps ask if she can teach you. You can plan. you want to be through the trial etc .. please tell me to mind my own busness if you want but i mean well...

Be careful with your words to your employers. My last ones (Civil Service) tried real hard for me to admit I could not do the job. Luckily I was aware that this gives them grounds for dismissal. After years of fighting (I used to be a Union Rep) stress was getting the better of me. I gave up the fight when I started having small strokes. My life was not worth the fight. Best of luck

Lexie, thank you for your kind words and of course I wouldn't tell you do mind your own business!!!! We spoke about CBT, so she is aware, I do mindfulness meditation.....I think I am just in a situation where I know the answers but I can't get out as it's up to others, ie my employer to sort it out.

Fiona, I am a civil servant too, I have told them I can't do the job as it's dealing with violent offenders and I can't sit behind a computer as I have whiplash which is awful. My job Dr has said in 2 reports I can't do it.!!!! They can sack me, however they would be breaching the Equality Act due to disability discrimination, so they would then have a few Lawyers letters!!!

I am so so sorry to hear that your health was effected so badly, I hope you feel less stressed etc now. xx

anything to try help xx lets be honest with fms we have to fight and make things work .. of course does not help fms is still a joke to others ....
