Hi,

I'm always covered in bruises. I can't seem to negotiate doorways or furniture without crashing into them. Wish it was alcohol but its not. Fibro sufferers seem to bruise very easily. Don't worry too much its normal for us. x

I too bruise very easily, but I know it's because I have a blood clotting disorder called Von Willebrands disease, which is similar to haemophilia in that it is a lack of the clotting Factor VIII. If I have to undergo any operation I always need to have Factor VIII prior to the op and I always come out looking like I've done several rounds with a top boxer !! Hey ho.

Hi

I bruise like a peach lol, and often don't even realise why, hubby jokes that sometimes I look like a victim of mugging. I have always done so though.

Women do tend to bruise very easily - softer skin I suppose!

If you notice any unusually severe bruising, especially if there is a lot of pain and swelling, please be aware that this can be a side-effect of steroids or NSAIDS and check with your doctor if you are on such medication

Yes, I've always bruised quite easily but in the past few years it's got ridiculous. I sometimes just have to lean my arm on something and it'll bruise. Seems to come and go in waves.

Yes, I've noticed that I bruise really easily and also the bruises seem to take a long time to go away. It's worse when I feel more poorly. I noted in the book by

devin Starsland called Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain that she lists bruising as one of the things that can happen with fibro.

I have always bruised easily but recently it has got ridiculous. I wore some heat patches on my knees and woke up with tiny bruises all around the edges of where they had been! I just have to accept I wasn't meant to be a supermodel:) That's a relief coz I like my food!!! Hope you feel more reassured xx

Can't remember a time when I didn't bruise easy, even if someone just pokes me in fun I bruise, have lost track of how many times a random bruise appears and I can't explain how I got it......I wake up most mornings with a new one, my husband and I joke that he's beating me in my sleep, he is, bless him, very wary of how he touches me as he knows it can be extremely painful at times. But that's just part and parcel of fibro I suppose..so onwards and upwards, gentle hugs to all xxx

I bruise far more easily since fibro. I don't know how I get half of them! What I find strange about the bruises is that they start off really pale and over a few days turn really dark and then take ages to disappear. It used to be that they started off dark and then got paler. Oh fibro is a wonderful thing!

Bruising is one the Fybro things, as other have said bruises seem to appear most of the time I have no idea how I got them most of them, my Husband's always saying look at the bruise how did you do that, Fybro is fun!!!!!!

Bruising is almost constant on me. I was told it is often a result of the amount of meds Fibro sufferers take, plus part of Fibro.

Hugs

Yes I always have bruises nowadays, with no recollection of having bumped into anything. I think my body has reached the point where it thinks it will bruise randomly to save me the trouble of having to bump into anything in the first place.

Gentle hugs to all x

Me too! I also bruise easily and my husband jokes that people will think he's beating me up! He's not.

Seriously though do go to your GP to discuss. I found it got much worse when I was taking NSAIDs (specifically Naproxen) and it is also a side effect of Fluoxetine. I decided not to take the NSAIDs as I've been taking them for about 6 months and never really thought they helped anyway. THey're also not good to take long term for numerous reasons. THere has been research on it and it was recently reported on BBC news.
