Aches_n_Pains_All_Over profile image

I take it at this piont you are looking for some info on me and not my body shape (which is rather chunky due to medication) lol.

Please see my profile for more info on me.

Hoping to find people with the same condition as myself and see if we can help each other. I suffer from fibromyalgia.

Hi there, Just joined myself. I'm the same with the body shape, fibro doesn't really give us much help with getting ourselves in shape does it. Hope you find some good help here too.

Lovely to hear from you and nice to know you have just joined too, we FM sufferers/victims try everything for a little bit of relief from this pain, 1.35

here and I'm still awake due to the pain, all I want is a good nights sleep lol

Hi, just like you I have just joined this web site. You have discribed me to a T. I went to Doctors last week & he said it is a vicious circle, no meds, slim but in pain or meds, heavy & still in pain. Had lots of different pain killers, now on morphine &

gabapentin, which helps now & then. Sitting here & feel I've been run over by a bus. Fibro hugs to you all. (((((O))))) x

Hi, only just joined yesterday myself. Have had M.E for 25 years now, since a bout of glandular fever, although it was a 'working diagnosis' until 15 years ago, once everything else had been ruled out. I then developed Fibro, after my daughter was born 8 year's ago. Have been on long term sick ever since, and getting steadily worse. Sending gentle hugs to all.......

I too am new, overweight, am currently on a working diagnosis, as doc thinks theres other stuff going on [arthritus] as seems to be focused on right hip. I am managing to work though off sick today as could bearly walk this week. JulieWilson what does (((((O))))) mean? It looks like that picture the scream? LindseyMid, we are just meeting up but you seem to be redirecting us?

This is not the only web site chat for FM and we all need company and sympathetic listeners. Its good to vent and release as to keep it in can make us more ill.

See you all around. Soft hugs to all.

Just means Gentle hugs round a body. I think it is appropriate to everyone with F/M or similar illnesses.

Sorry too scared to watch Scream.

Hope you keep well. x

hi there everyone feeling it for you all. as of no surprise i too am over weight . it is not because i dont eat regular but i dont eat bad either. weight gain is not for all the wrong reasons it is because with FM we get less mobile so we are not burning excess weight. i cant do alot anymore for the reason of the poisoness word PAIN . so to be active is to be pain free who is pain free because im not .

im new here. i think i may have fm (diagnosing myself( can certain pills cause fm and make it worse. at the moment with me it blood pressure tablets, i have been on so many the last 6 years, buyt2 yr ago when on one particular drug i had pain in hips but only in bed, it took me over a year to discover it was the tablet and when i stopped pain went away. it was brillIANT TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP. and stop blaming the mattress.`

Thanks to all the replies, oh Nettie how I agree with you, I'm forever being told I need to eat more but in reality I can't, for some reason I seem full up after I take my meds in the morning and really to face food makes me feel sick sounds like an anorexic but I'm not, like Christine Els my BMI reading is obese too, but really I don't class a size 16 obese, so I too call myself overweight or cuddly lol.

I have enjoyed going through the site tonight and I will try to get on as often as possible to keep in touch with everyone.

Hope all of you can find a bit of relief from the pain this week, Goodnight and God Bless.

(((((Soft Hugs)))))

Did u all know amitriptyline can cause weight gain, as can some if the other drugs we are prescribed

Hi Chrissy

Yes I did know amitriptyline can cause weight gain as can many of my other meds and being almost inactive, I have gone from taking the kids to school at 8.30 then home for housework and look after another child in the house I had my own 2 then my sisters 2, then I had a son 11 years after my daughter then later in life my other sister had a son then my daughter went on to have a kid of her own at 17 who I looked after while she went to work, so I have always been kept busy and worked at my own pace when the pain was bad as I was on long term sickness benefit, now I can hardly get out of bed in the morning, every joint, muscle and ligament in my body aches and I'm so sore if I do get to sleep it's the pain that wakens me up. First thing I do now is ask the doctor if the pills I'm being prescribed put on weight as one of these days my family are just gonna attatch me to a string and I will float along in the air lol, so all in all I can say I had a very busy day, then nightthime just me and my 2 kids and the bedtime routine until 1 day I collapsed in pain and had to crawl and break through that pain barrier to reach the phone for help, onc you have gone through that pain barrier there is no going back everything just gets worse and worse, fortunatley I have a wonderful family who now realise just what I'm going through and they help out as much as they can.

I was wondering if anyone else found the heat helped a little here in th UK but oh geez go abroad and if it's for a fortnight you will get at least 12 days af less pain, it takes about 2 days for the heat to work then whoopee you find that you can move a little easier, (or maybe it's the alcohol) lol, I found Bulgaria in July to be the best heat roughly 90 degrees, Gran Canaria too but we suffered a heatwave and it was just too warm 104 degrees, hot winds from Africa but boy it did help with movement and I cold even go in the pool, just a little thought, do you all think the NHS woul save money on meds if they sent us all abroad for a fortnight every so often, I can but dream.

Hope you all have good day.

(((((soft hugs)))))

Yes I'm like you, heat does help the aches & pains. I feel nearly 50% better in the sun. I keep telling my hubby we should go away to the sun in fact nearly every other week. He says we wouldn't have any money left from his retirement payout. At the moment we are looking forward to going to America in Sep.Only preblem is, will I be able to keep up with our friends.Only time will tell.

The NHS would never give us that as a prescription, Oh! I wish.

Have a pain free day...........x

I'm new too. Since my two major surgeries on my shoulder in 2009 and 2010 and this Fibro has kicked in I have stuck on a fair bit of weight. I have noticed that as my weight has gone up so has my pains and feeling down. But I joined weight watchers last month and have lost 7.5 pounds so far, I'm really hoping that when I get to goal my pains will be so much less (wishful thinking prob) but anyhooo its going to make me feel great getting back in my little clothes. I'm finding the excercise real hard, I jog on my treadmill and my legs burn and scream "stop" but I just think to myself I'm winning a little war against Fibro.

Have a restful night all x

Hi I am new here and I to am over weight and suffer with fibro as well as being tested for other illnesses, I am also on steriods and the other medications I take all the side affects are weight gain I hate being like this as I was really active before all this kicked in and now I struggle to just walk to walk to the front door

LindseyMid profile image
LindseyMid in reply tokavqc

kavqc, do you have an additional diagnosis to explain the steroid prescription? Or is the fact they are helping why your doctors are investigating other illnesses? I only ask because steroids are not a treatment for Fibro.
