I keep trying to write lists, but i loss them!

Anyway im proud of myself i have finally got around to the application for Blue Badge (not posted yet)

I have to appeal my DLA

I have to appeal my works descision not to Ill Health Retire me.

Write a letter to my consultant to ask for his support in my appeal for ill health retirement.

I am terrible at writing letters, but i was going to try and word it so whatever his reply would also work as part of DLA appeal.

Anyway I went to see the works CAPITA doc he spoke to me and asked whats the matter, im pretty sure the dates i provided were all wrong (terrible memory) and i missed bits out, anyway the general outcome is that he said it was obvious i cant work, and that there was nothing else that work could do to help me to return to work.

What really bugged me about the Capita report is that in one sentence they refer to me as Mrs...then he? I am fully female ;)

quote: the medical evidence is that mrs king is not only currently unfit for his normal role because of ill health, but is also currently unfit for all gainful employment. Spontaneous improvement in his condition appears unlikely.

i can identify no adjustments that would enable mrs king to return to work.

Apparently by visiting a pain clinic, and a psychiatrist i will be cured??????

I dont know how to start writing to my consultant. The last time I saw him, I explained some of my situation....his response was "play your cards close to your chest"....whatever that means?

Anyway in the meantime I have to deal with an imminent metting at my house with someone from work, as they have already started the procedure for dismissall

Next on list: TRY NOT TO STRESS

Would you be entitled to a lump sum payment or a pension if you are retired due to ill health.. Obviously only you know how you feel about giving up work ... But for me it was the best thing I ever did for me... For my family it was a bit of an upheaval .we had to sell our house and buy a smaller one .. But the stress of not sleeping and trying to work full time and juggle a house and an autistic toddler was too much ... Being at home all the time I managed to get some control back into my life... I won't say its been easy because it hasn't but I think if I had carried on working I don't think I would be here now .... I think the stress and lack of sleep and depression because of the first two would have finished me off...

So do what feels best for you and if you want to stay in work then don't give up without a fight...

Hi. Do you have a Union rep you can get in touch with? As VG asked, do you have the possibility of retirement on health grounds? I know Capita deal with government departments and if that's the case then look down that line. I had to go down that line, I had to fight for it but got there in the end. If you want to chat, send a message to me.

If not in a union, what about Citizens Advice?

Good luck.

The visit to the capita was for to see if I qualify for ill health retirement. And I have been refused. My manager wants me to appeal, this is why I need to write a letter to my consultant, and I dunno where to start. :/

Hi If Capita say you are unfit to work etc why has your ill health retirment been refused?? That is a bit odd as that is why you had to see them in the first place. I had a similar situation a few years ago after having a heart attack and surgery and then bowel operations. I worked for a college and went to see an Occupational Physician who declared I was unfit for work and that it would be highly unlikely I would ever be able to return to work of any kind and that was that. I had my ill health retirement and took my pension. It isn't that much but it does help and I do not have the stress of having to be at work each day at this time and that etc, it was the best thing for me. I am now also going through the ATOS motions and waiting to hear from them after sending my form in 6 wks ago. Good luck.
