Ah well, an e-cigarette is the best news ever as far as health is concerned, so very best of luck, and please let us know how you get on with it!

Google e cigs, they are more harmful than the real thing.

That's great! :D Each x amount of time that goes by without is an achievement! :) Remember that! :) xx

Good luck with it, I am so glad I gave up over 20 yrs ago after a few failed attempts ;P

What I found helped me was not saying anything to close friends and family about giving up during those first crucial weeks, That way no one was asking how I was doing and constantly reminding me I was trying to stay off them, and I didn't have to deal with the few who didn't want to or didn't see the point in giving up, trying to persuade me that I shouldn't bother trying!

What I did was just say no thanks when I was offered and sometimes pretended I'd just put one out or was feeling a bit off! It worked for me and then after a few weeks when I was offered I could say "no thanks I gave them up"! It's just what worked best for me everyone is different and I had a load of smoking in-laws who thought giving up was a stupid idea, they all still smoke and say they will never give up! One of them is just gone 50 and her lungs are really bad and getting worse....

Drop on here for moral support when you need it :)

Good luck with your quest to become smoke free.

I stopped almost 16 years ago. I'd been trying for a while but had started again then a few weeks later I had a bad cold which turned into a chest infection. One morning while this infection was at it's height I had a cigarette, took one puff then promptly threw up! I haven't smoked since.

Hubby stopped a few months before our son was born. We had had a party with his family in our house & I went to bed early cos I was knackered. When I came downstairs I could smell gas- someone had put the gas fire on but it hadn't ignited. Fortunately the electric to the backboiler ignition had been switched off at the mains and it was me who came downstairs first as Hubby has no sense of smell & the first thing he did when he walked into the livingroom was light up! When I told him how serious it could have been he never touched a cigarette again.

We were both lucky to be able to do it doing cold turkey but neither of us of us found it easy,

Wow that would not have been good "/. Ive tried loads of times to go cold turkey but I have never been able to due to habbit it wasnt the nicotine which is why ive got this e cig :) x

Good on ya, I stopped and started more times than I can remember, but when I got e- CIG, that worked for me. I got one that was too strong, but ended up using it without the nicotine eventually and used it like ciggie with steam coming out only. That is great also, coz it gives the sense and feel of smoking without the harm, although nicotine apparently is not harmful, but the 20,000 chemicals with it are. Good luck. If you have a blip, just start again. Xxx

hi i used an e ciggy but they gave me terific headaches..but realised that i smoked silk cut silver so very very low tar etc..so the e ciggy is concentrated nicitine,so in effect i was getting more nicotine than when i smoked..i got free patches..gum..mints,inhalers etc from my ..stop smoking nurse/advisor at my doctors surgery,so worth asking if needed...i found with the eciggy it was the "smoke" vapour that i likes as it lookes like smoke, and as smokers know thats half the pleasure..iv been a non smoker for three years now ..from 30 a day xxx
