My gp came up this afternoon. She's been on leave, and before she went she wrote to the rhuemy consultant I've seen before, to explain how bad my hands are now, and problem with the right one they did carpal tunnel for. Urgent apptment needed. It came through for the end of August for crying out loud! When my gp means business, she gets it done, I'm left knowing something will def. happen by the end of the week
Anyway, we ended up comparing pics of grandchildren/children, (in my lounge, with her mobile - aint technology grand?). We talk on 1st name basis, she never makes me feel like I've wasted her time, and nothing is too much trouble. I trust her implicitly. She is very open minded, trained in acupuncture (I tried, made things worse for me, but still), I'm just wondering how far they've progressed in cloning? Last thing I heard was Dolly, a lamb?
It would be a better world with doctors all working like her. She is the best. I am so lucky.

That is always great when you get a brilliant GP. I had a lovely one but she retired last June and I am just getting to know this new one who I don't feel very confident about yet.
Fingers x it works out. This one is probably the best ever. I had a good family dr. when my girls were growing up. Sometimes it can take a while to build that trust. xx
I have a wonderful Gp and he is the main fibro GP in the surgery I think having a good GP is part of the battle lets hope your appt comes through very quickly ...
I am also incredibly lucky to have a fantastic, caring and knowledgeable GP I think this is most important when dealing with any chronic illness especially Fibromyalgia xxx
Im really pleased to hear you have a brilliant GP. Unfortunately mine isn't quite so understanding/ up to date with all things fibro related. We're jopi g to move to another area sometime this year. I know the GP practice in this new area has a great GP who according to a friend is really patient and will do what he can to help. So looking forward to moving. Soft hugs to you all. Take care.
Oh I do hope you get to a different dr. It does make so much difference. fingers well and truly crossed for you! xx
I have seen eight GPs now and haven't found any helpful. I see GP number nine this pm. How do you go about finding a good one? I posted a letter of complaint to my practice yesterday.
After all these years, I've reached the conclusion it's very much a case of lucky dip. Have you spoken to neighbours? They may not have a clue about fm but a caring, open minded gp may well be a step in the right direction. Good luck!
Hi, I know a few of you think you have the best GP but I think I have. He has been my GP for about 15 years and has been brilliant with me and my kids. He is great when you are well and even better when you are unwell. He never makes me feel like I am taking too long on an appointment or that I am wasting his time. He is really great for getting things done and getting me referred to other doctors .he is happy to speak to me on the phone when I can't get an appointment
I think the best was to describe him is he makes me feel "safe" not matter how ill I am
