Hi crissy, have you tried doing a search? I think you'll get lots of responses.
Fentanyl is a strong opioid so isn't actually a recommended treatment for Fibro, partly because opioids cannot work as effectively in someone with Fibro but we are prone to side effects, so the risk-benefit ratio is poor, and partly because they don't do anything to treat the causes of Fibro pain. However, a lot of people with Fibro also have other conditions, for which these drugs may well be a recommended treatment. If you have out of control pain from another condition, that will be constantly flaring up your Fibro, so they can help that way.
HTH!
Thank u my mate is in these fir fibro and dhe said it helps her
I had these and they made me quite ill it has since been found out that my liver cannot metabolise any opiates or alcohol.... That why I waited till you had had some answers before I posted as I realise that my response is quite negative .... I am glad your friend has found relief with these... The best thing to do is ask your GP

Hello Chrissie, my pain specialist put me on Fenanyl Patches starting with 25mg increasing to 50mg which I'm on now and have been for the last few years I also use Oramorph and Paracetamol for break through pain. I've tried other meds for fibro but they give me terrible side effects where this doesn't it has been a god send for me I don't get as much pain like I used too and I give them a 100 percent thumbs up. Hugs Aisha x
I have fibro and am on fentanyl 50mg and also have oromoph and have been for a while, they work quite well for me as have tried all the others they were a last resort. Sithy
Pain relief should never be refused to someone in pain. So if you don't have other options and strong opioids take the edge off, then they can be a legitimate treatment option.
Unfortunately though, it's rare to get very good Fibro symptom relief with only strong opioids. It can be worth trying to use non-medication treatments as well if you feel you're out of other options medications-wise.
I am also on naproxen & amitryptoline. Sithy
