Hello hotmama1

I know exactly how you feel, I am like you all the time, my body thermostat just does not work any more my GP told me it's one of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia and there is nothing he can do about it. I cannot have the central heating on even when it's really cold it's very strange for me as normally (before Fibro hit me) I always felt the cold.

I keep a couple of bottles of water in the fridge, as soon as the hot flush starts I drink some cold water from the bottle it does help. x

Hi Jayjay57, I do not have fibromyalgia, but I do get the same exact thing with the head sweating, and face sweating, it is very embarrassing but I dont know if there is anything that can be done. I am anxious to see if others have an answer to this problem. God Bless

Hi hotmama1

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are suffering from excessive sweating in this way and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

There is a condition called hyperhidrosis that can cause excessive sweating, as I am not a doctor I cannot say if this is what is causing your problem but I have pasted you a link to the NHS choices page pertaining to hyperhidrosis.

nhs.uk/conditions/hyperhidr...

I have also pasted you two other links that look at the causes and treatments for excessive sweating, so I genuinely hope that you find them useful:

nhs.uk/Livewell/embarrassin...

webmd.com/skin-problems-and...

I want to wish you all the best with finding the answers that you are looking for.

All my hopes and dreams for you

no i dnt take any depressant meds..

Hi hotmama1,

I am exactly the same, in work I have to have the fan on to keep me cool. If I go shopping I am in a t-shirt and then worry I will have sweat coming through it. I find it quite embarrassing at times, especially when my face is beetroot red :) Saw my GP and she said it is a hormonal problem and the menopause is more likely the case than Fibro, I have been told by several other Fibro sufferers that it is Fibro, some people suffer heat while others are cold. I am on HRT for it but to be honest it is a waste of time. Not knowing your age, I hope this is of some help :) I hope you can get some help for this and then you can come back and tell me how. Best of luck from one hotmama to another :)

It's really interesting to hear that so many fibro sufferers also have this excessive sweating problem. I always put it down to post cancer treatment but that stopped years ago, the sweating has not! I never put it down to the fibro before but now....? Whatever the cause though I sympathise. I constantly feel like a wet dish rag and worry that I smell. It's very depressing.

I thought this was something that was unique to me, everyone laughs when I sit with the fan next to me at work, and I dont realise how cold my house can get, it makes sense that it may be something to do with Fibromyalgia would love to have a reason for this happening

Well, rather a relief to read the above. I thought it was just that I'd put on some weight since getting Fibro and not being able to be so active and so was suffering due to extra insulation! I am still trying to get weight off but every time I get to a stage where I think I can start then something else goes wrong! Drat my body.

Yep I would say this is menopause - that thing with the head sweats happened to me too, but I'm pleased to report that after a few months it stopped and didn't come back. Unpleasant while it lasted though ....

Hi, I'm like you Poppyme, I originally put it down to cancer treatment but now I know differently! My GP is unsure but putting it down to meds or, as she says, just another Fibromyalgia symptom! It is very embarrassing at times, especially when out and about. I too make sure I have cold water available and always carry cooling wipes with me. Cucumber or Tea Tree oil ones work best for me. X.

Hi everyone. I've noticed that a lot of the posts are 3 years old. I too have been having problems with sweating a lot, I haven't got Fibro like most of you though. I have a fan constantly on in the living room and bedroom. Having a shower/bath and washing my hair is terrible. I get so embarrassed by it and it does affect my daily life, very reluctant to go out much because if it. Saw my GP this week and he said there is nothing he can do!!! there has to be something, I'm at my wits end with it.....
