Hi. If you are having embryo transfer as a continuation of your IVF/ICSI cycle, then it is fairly straightforward. Very similar to having a cervical smear test done. The embryologist/consultant will be given your embryo in a long “straw-like” pipette and it is gently inserted into your womb through your cervix. That’s it! Most consultants require you to use progesterone pessaries/cream for the first two weeks after transfer. Then, hopefully if you have a positive pregnancy test result after these two weeks, it is often prescribed for up to twelve weeks of pregnancy, depending upon your consultant’s preference.
