Request from US Journalist -
I’m working on a story on the impact the financial crisis is having on health systems and have heard that many of these cuts are being made in IVF treatment. I was wondering if it might be possible to find a patient going through this, who has been denied fertility treatment either for purely financial reasons, or if the criteria in their PCT has been revised so they are no longer eligible. I’d really like to hear from patients about the impact this is having on their lives and if they think this is a legitimate way for the NHS to cut costs.
This would be for a print article for the Associated Press, a U.S. newswire in which we would need to identify the patient by name. We would preferably like photos, but that isn’t absolutely necessary if the patient isn’t comfortable. If it’s possible to speak to someone over the telephone sometime in the next week, that would be great. A telephone interview would probably take about 10 minutes.
If you can help with this please contact Maria directly on mcheng@ap.org or email susanseenan@infertilitynetworkuk.com
Many thanks
