10th Donor egg ….Do I try again or not?

so the last transfer was a negative.

We put everything on hold after that as I just couldn’t go again I was totally broken.

I still am to be fair but found my self starting to lurk on these forums again.

Really don’t know what to do,I’m torn between trying again but risk feeling totally at rock bottom again or just calling it a day once & for all.

I’m 40 now & just feel to old if I’m being completely honest & that’s no disrespect to anyone else but all my friends children are teenagers now! Some even grandparents.

Suppose I’m just looking for somewhere to vent & a bit of advice from some ladies who just get it….😢

Hi. So sorry you feel awful. Are yoir Fallopian tubes ok , no blockage that might affect implantation from toxic fluid. Hysteroscopy to check womb and biopsy the lining, and perhaps prednisolone to quieten the immune system. Youve probably done all this, so apologies. All the very best when you try again. Diane

Hi lovely I’m sorry for what you are going through

Every one on here can relate to how your feeling I felt like someone had put a straw in me and my hubby and sucked the life out of us when it come to fertility

I started ivf in 2013 and my successful one was at the end of 2022 I have a 18 month old now I’m 42 I am now trying for a sibling and will be 44 if it works

I have a 25 yr old and a 18 month old and all I get of everyone I meet is wow you had a long break like I’ve been on the longest chill for 24 years some that are nice I just say how it is if I could have children my self I would have a house full it took me that long I’m lucky to have him

Your not old lovely 40 still young its just we get that drained makes us feel older then what we are your still in your prime girl

Has it been the same donor for the 10 eggs ? and was you on steroids for your transfer mine only worked when I was on 25 mg of steroid and blood thinners aspirin Lubion injections

What as your clinic said about going forward have they kept you on the same protocol or have they been changing things

Would you think about changing clinics if your going to give it a last try

May be a new clinic new donor and try adding things to your protocol

There’s ladies on here that did 8 double transfers with donor before success there older then you and there not even old it’s how you feel in yourself but age is really just a number

if you ever need to vent lovely we are all here vent away and I wish you loads of lucky with everything

X

hi,

I feel your pain. I have just finished on the telephone with my consultant after another bfn. I have 6 donor embryos left and I have had a hysteroscopy, biopsy and this last transfer I was on steroids and increased progesterone, asprin etc

I am just not destined to be a parent and it is so so hard.

I was asked if I wanted to genetically test the 6 remaining but at over £4000 and the fact they are donor I just don’t see it being with the cost. Plus it puts me in the area of the implantation protocol then not being valid because it only has a 6 month window etc. I am not even sure I am making sense.

She did suggest i add probiotics to my list of supplements because again having the microbiome test could also delay things and impact the implantation clinic protocol. Results are only valid for 6 months.

So, I unfortunately, can’t offer any advice, but I can offer and ear as someone who is also goi g through similar issues. I do hope you are taking care of yourself and trying not to be too critical of things.

Lots of luck

40 is not old. You are super young. Failing with donor eggs would make me ask serious questions to your clinic about either your immune system or uterine environment. Clinics in Spain are very advanced in genetic testing even when it comes to donor eggs as they check the comparability between donor and recipient. Check out clinical tambre Spain. Too much headache for you…10 failed transfers, get some answers and go again but change clinics and donor. Einstein said insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Don’t give up on your baby. Maybe you’re supposed to do it with your own eggs once you get some answers. ❤️

obviously the decision is totally yours but I say go for it! You don’t sound like you are 100% ready to give up yet 💪🏻

I take no offence whatsoever to your thoughts of are you too old at 40 years of age. But. I am 49 this week my daughter is almost 5 months old, my little miracle from my 10th egg and seventh transfer. All of my friends who are my age have children who are teenagers some of them are also already grandparents, and my friends who are a lot younger than me also already have children who are at school. Some people may think that maybe I am selfish for having a baby at my age and also on my own frankly I don’t care what other people think! You have wisdom and life experience on your side and I’m sure you have a lot to give any child.

Good luck for your future whatever you decide 💖

Hi, I’ve just turned 44 and had my first baby 3 months ago when I was still 43. I definitely don’t think about my age. She was via donor eggs. I had tried a couple of rounds unsuccessfully with my own eggs. I got a batch of 7 DE that made 3 ‘outstanding’ embryos. I was suprised when number 1 and 2 failed. Before using the final embryo I did the EMA, Alice and ERA biopsy. It found I had no good bacteria and needed probiotics but most crucially it found that I needed a day 7 transfer rather than the day 6 transfers I had been having as was standard in my clinic. It suggested an extra 30 hours of progesterone before my lining was ready. So with this adjustment my third transfer worked! Have you considered a test like this? Good luck x
