Part of the plan for my treatment by reproductive immunologist is taking hydroxychloroquine for 2-3 months pre FET. I’m currently embryo banking. Feeling nervous to start it now if could negatively impact egg quality. Does anyone have experience of this?
I feel I’m losing time in my life with embryo banking, though I know it’s right thing to do for me now, it’s a very clear I’m not getting pregnant in the next few months. Then to think I’ll have to take another 2-3 months out to let hydroxychloroquine work before I can do FET is so disheartening. But if it’s the right thing to do of course I’ll do it.
thanks xx

I would be interested to know the answer that people have to this question.
The last egg retrieval I had was the only one I had while I was on hydroxy and it was the worst cycle by far in terms of no. of blastocysts. However, it’s hard to say what the reason for that result is. My husband and I both had norovirus during that cycle and we both had Covid 3 months before….i am also a year older than the previous cycle I did, who knows whether hydroxy had an impact.
The good news is hydroxy has finally reduced my cytokines.
It is hard isn’t it ! It’s always a tough decision as the evidence isn’t so clear . I remember debating for a while a few years back. Took it in the end with no side effects but I end up not having any viable embryos to transfer (which is the same result as before I took the meds), so unfortunately can’t comment on whether it helps. I end up having a son through embryo adoption and it was a great experience x
Thanks so much for sharing so glad you’ve got to be a mummy in a way that felt right.
I am thinking I probably will wait, even though it’s horrible to add more delays, as I don’t want to worry all the time if I’m doing anything bad to egg quality. I’m waiting to hear back from the reproductive immunologist if they have advice. X
