Has anyone had Gonal F alongside Meriofert? I'm 40 and my first round of IVF didn't work. I know my chances are slim due up egg quality but I'm hoping my second round with this change in medication might help. Has anyone had this and what are your experiences? Thank you xx

I had menopur only for my first few rounds and then we had a combo of menopur and gonal F for the next few. I dont know if it made all that much difference to egg numbers but I am pregnant from 5th round using that combo. My clinic said one is a natural form and one a synthetic form of the stims so can be good to have the combination to cover both versions and how the body might react. I was ready for Collection each time after only 7 days on stims. Age 42 short protocol, normal AMH. Hope that helps xx

Oh that's interesting, Thank you. Congratulations, I'm so pleased for you. We're having to self fund and with it being so expensive I feel like 2nd round might be all I can afford so I'm praying this works xx

Hi, all 3 of my cycles were meriofert & gonal f. 1st round collected 5 eggs, 2 fertilised, we got 1 5 day blast, 2nd round we got 3 eggs, 2 fertilised but no blasts (i questioned the medication myself here, but stuck with it), round 3 we got 4 eggs, 3 fertilised, resulting in a 6 day blast. I was 40 when we started, have a low AMH and also had a hydrosalpinx (I had a unilateral salpingectomy 3 weeks ago) stims worked as well as could be as we have 2 blastocysts in the freezer. Both Pgta tested normal, and we have just started our oestrogen for our 1st FET in a few weeks. Try and relax, speak with your Dr's and ask questions you may have, I did this and it did make me feel better with understanding the bodies process. Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you so much Sammy. Congratulations to you for having frozen embryos. All the way along I've tried to ask whether my results are normal or what they would expect They've said ours is unexplained.

They got 8 eggs with our first round, then 6 fertilised but only 2 progressed, one to cavitating and one to morula by day 5. This means they weren't quite ready to be transferred so I'm hoping this change in medication would mean more eggs.

I know some months you have better egg quality than others so just keeping fingers crossed for round 2.

Wishing you the best of luck with your FET xx

Thank you 😊 it's definitely a nerve wracking time.Fingers crossed, the medication change works for you. It's always disheartening when things don't go the way we envisage. I also changed my vitamins to impryl and with inofolic, as heard they work well together (i dont have pcso btw) as read lots they help with quality? Still on them now.

Have you started the new cycle yet? Fingers & toes crossed, remember it only takes one egg. Keep us posted xx

Absolutely. It just feels like everyone around me is pregnant and I just feel awful. What are those vitamins? Are they in a pregnancy supplement? I'm taking a mummy gummy daily. Can you send a link?

I start the next cycle in April. I'm considering acupuncture too. I'm so desperate for this to work as running out of money for another cycle. Thank you for your positive words. It means so much xx

Ah thank you. Do these include folic acid and b12 or do you have to take these separately? I'm just taking these as I wanted to just take a formula that says it's for pregnancy and be assured it is the right combo knownnutrition.co.uk/produc...

Yes they include everything you need plus additional supports. I was using pregnacare prior and find these much better.

I’m 40 xx I haven’t had my AMH checked in two years but it was 11.4 Feb 2023. At my last baseline scan my AFC was 16 xx

Ah ok. I'm not sure what mine are to be honest but I was just told everything was normal and that it was ' unexplained fertility.' Praying this time works. Good luck to you too xx

I hate when they said unexplained it’s just a lazy diagnosis.

Wishing you lots of luck too xx

I've used this combo with good results, don't count yourself out 40 is still ok. I had my son at 40 🙏 First cycles are always a bit of trial and error. My best friend had infertility for years and her second cycle worked on this combination it was her first transfer. She had an eventful pregnancy but gave birth to a beautiful healthy boy a couple of months ago at age 43. I wish you all the best xx

Aww thank you. My consultant has suggested it might be age related egg quality that meant my embryos didn't reach blastocyct stage. I'm hoping my body will be more used to the medication the second time and the change in meds might help.

Thank you, it's great and very encouraging to hear of your and your friend's experience. I'm just trying to stay positive but it's hard not to feel anxious when this may be the last round we can afford. Did you try acupuncture? xx

Yes I totally get it, I was so hung up on it working straight away I put everything else on hold for ivf, but in reality I should have taken some time to try improve egg quality. Would you consider that for a few months? I do Acupuncture on and off, but I always do it around transfers, before and after xx
