Ovaleap v. meriofert long protocol

Hi ladiesI hope everyone is well and coping ok during the festive season ♥️

We're due to start our second round in Feb/March (we need a break and also want to really focus on a detox beforehand)

Last round was Meriofert 375 long protocol and we got 8 eggs and 2 fertilised and were transferred. They were really low quality and unfortunately after 2 weeks I had a chemical pregnancy.

The clinic was so bad we've managed to swap but now I've had conflicting advice. The previous consultant said to try 300 ovaleap and 75 meriofert in the hope it produces better quality eggs. But the new consultant says just go with 375 Meriofert again as I responded well.

I have very low AMH and few eggs so anything was a bonus apparently.

I feel so torn. I feel like if I don't try ovaleap I'll always be wondering 'what if' but that if I try it and it doesn't work as well I'll be so resentful.

Has anyone been on a long protocol and done any better with ovaleap? I know it's probably very individual but we're likely only to have one other round after this and I'm so desperate to give us the best shot.

Thank you xx

Hey. I can’t give advice but I have just started my second round after a failed egg collection (one follicle. no eggs. Also very low amh of 1). I was on 300 meriofert and for my next round I have been given Ovaleap. I should start injecting around 14th.

I can let you know how I get on with ovaleap? I’m hoping for me there is a big difference. I read somewhere online ovaleap helps with quantity and meriofert with quality (not sure if scientifically true or not) xx

Hey Lutchley Sending massive love for this round and fingers crossed 🙏🏼 Definitely keep me posted ♥️It's so conflicting isn't it as the consultant said ovaleap might help with quality (which is my issue and why they think I've had X2 miscarriages) argh! But surely the more you have the more chance you have of having good quality ones!

Hope you respond well and it's second time lucky xx

Thank you. I know so conflicting and I think we all probably keep researching until we find the information we want to hear 😆 I will let you know the difference when I start! x

I don’t know how helpful it is as everyone is different but I responded a lot better in terms of getting quality blasts with using high dose ovaleap (450iu) (often having 100% blast conversion from 1-3 mature eggs) than using a combination of FSH and LH (cycle with Pergoveris I got more eggs but zero blasts). Best of luck!

Thanks mate! That's interesting as I've been told 375 is the maximum so maybe I can ask about a higher dose?! It's annoying as one consultant is saying potential for better quality with ovaleap but then if I responded well to meriofert from a numbers perspective I'm so drawn between the two! X

It is so trial and error isn’t it but who wants to be the Guinea pig especially with the high emotional and financial cost!! There is some evidence that those with low AMH do better with FSH dominant or only stims and certainly has been the case for me. Who knows maybe I’d get just as good with lower dose but now we’ve done it I don’t want to risk reducing. 300iu Ovaleap only got me 1 egg from 4 good size follicles (that one egg did make a great blast tho). But 450iu seems to have been better in getting more eggs out. I was so excited to get 7 eggs from the Pergoveris stims only to fall flat on our faces with no embryos - so no more experimenting for me, just going to stick to what I know!! xx

Hi DogMum7. I’ve had 4 IVF cycles- the first 3 with Ovaleap 375iu each of which I collected 8-12 eggs(after needing an extra 2days of stim for follicles to be ready), 6-7mature and 1-2 fertilised with only 1 suitable for transfer on day 6 after each cycle but never good enough to freeze. Unfortunately the day 6 embryos never stuck.

I have just completed my 4th cycle with meriofert 375iu (I also had double dosing on the first 2days of stim). 10 eggs collected, 9 mature. 4fertilised. 3 made it to blast. One of which was transferred on day 5 and the other 2 frozen.

I got my first ever positive pregnancy test with this cycle. Unfortunately it ended with an early miscarriage. But I am taking huge encouragement from the leaps closer to my dream with the changes to meriofert and the double dosing on the first 2 days.

Good luck in your journey!

I'm sorry to hear that. Exactly same outcome for me on meriofert. I think we're going to stick with it and hope for the best. Did the clinic say why they recommended double dosing the first couple of days?

I honestly forgot to ask but think it was as I always needed 14days of stimulation and it was to try and get me ready for egg collection a bit earlier- and it worked only 12 days needed and better outcomes. I was told that this was a very old regime… so definitely not new.
