I haven’t written for a while, fast forward a few years and despite our IVF journey not working out with own eggs and going through further natural cycles following NK Cells and immunotherapy we finally moved onto DE. Thankfully we got 9 healthy eggs from a lovely young doner. Fast forward a few weeks and today we were due to have our transfer but annoyingly DH started being unwell a few days ago and last night I caught his cough and cold so the clinic had to postpone!
Really disappointed and feeling like this is never ending! Thankfully clinic have said our embryos are good quality and we can go next month but now worried about the re-thaw. I really wanted to end 2024 with some positive news! Anyone else had a cancelled cycle and have any coping tips?! My silver lining is we can at least enjoy the merriment of Christmas without all the meds!

So frustrating, but you’d not want any doubts of if being ill affected the transfer if you’d gotten a BFN. I had my first transfer just before Xmas, and the BFN was somehow made even worse. Enjoy your Christmas with dreams of the new year with your transfer that makes all your dreams come true!
Thank you and sorry to hear about your BFN, I too had previous heartache at Xmas and it was very tough to put a brave face on.. You’re absolutely right, at least I go into Jan transfer hopefully feeling healthier and got to keep the hope and good luck for 2025 🤞🏼
Hope your OH is feeling better and you have managed to escape the bug ! If this cycle had failed you would maybe feel it was your fault -so best wait till you are both fit & well Hoping next year is lucky for you
Oh no, I’m so sorry your transfer had to be postponed—that’s so frustrating. But it’s great that you’re finding a little silver lining in being able to enjoy Christmas without the meds. It sounds like your clinic is being really supportive, and it’s so encouraging that your embryos are good quality. Hoping you and DH feel better soon and that next month brings you the positive news you’re hoping for. Sending hugs! xx
I’m sorry it’s so frustrating when there are extra delays. I used donor sperm and when it was being shipped from Belgium, it got stuck at the port due to Brexit and all defrosted 😢
Of course the cycle was cancelled and I had to wait for another start date.
I was so frustrated and devastated at the time and felt like everything was against me.
I found it useful to set myself little challenges to pass the forced waiting period. I like running so I set myself weekly mileage goals and blinkered myself in that to help the time pass.
In the grand scheme of things it’s a short wait when I look back but man I found it hard, so I feel for you but try where you can to put the time to good use and throw yourself into something non-fertility related and before you know it, you’ll be back on track again. Xx good luck xx
wow, you couldn’t make this stuff up!? Really sorry to read about your experience, the things we go through. It’s honestly like living in a parallel universe in terms of the different things we all face. Appreciate the kind message and I hope you made it out the other side with some success. With donor it feels like last chance saloon so hoping this is our happy ending now 🤞🏼 xx
TW: chemical pregnancy. After a positive pregnancy test a few weeks ago after DE ICSI transfer I started bleeding last night suggesting chemical pregnancy. Really feels like this is an impossible task even with DE! Any advice welcome as feeling so frustrated right now. X
