Double embryo transfer (3AA & 5AB) - experience and advice?

Hi all - I did a double transfer back in April period (4AA & 4BB). I got a positive on day 6 but sadly, the HCG never increased quick enough so I lost it in week 5.

I have 2 embryos left with this clinic (3AA & 5AB) and am trying to decide what to do. My embryos weren't tested so out of these 2, I'd be lucky if 1 of them is normal. I just assumed the 2 transferred in April were aneuploids..

I know the clinic will advise me to transfer the 3AA first; I'm just wondering if I should opt for a double transfer again. Will the lesser grade affect the better one?

Would welcome any advice/views and experiences to help me decide!

Thanks all.

I would transfer them separately and take clinics advice on what one to do first. I’ve did quite a lot of double transfers that have mostly all ended in chemicals, my consultant told me about some emerging research where one of the ‘poorer’ embryos can affect the implantation of a normal one especially if they are of different grades. We decided to move to single transfer even though we had 2 embryos last time (both 4ABs) the first didn’t take at all but the 2nd one I’m 26 weeks pregnant with. I dont know if this helped but I had 9 transfers before this one and I’m glad I gave this one a chance on its own so I would know for sure no effects from the other one . There is really no right or wrong answer though and all my other ones could have been destined for chemicals anyways (I’m also 42) whether I had done double or single but it gave me peace of mind to know we had tried this way after trying the other of that makes sense? Good luck! Xx

Thanks for responding and sharing your story, and congrats! Wishing you a smooth pregnancy.

I am leaning towards a single transfer (I think). I think it makes sense considering one is better than the other.

I was totally all for double transfers and did quite a few of them for the sake of time and money etc so there is defo no right or wrong answer! Just the last few I changed tactic even though my clinic were happy either way. The same thing happened in 2020 with my son had a double transfer and had a chemical, next transfer I was told had to be a single transfer during covid and resulted in my son so I am probs just a bit biased now xx

There are not too different in grades. 5AB is very good. I think it depends on age with transferring two. I’ve tended to do double transfers from the age of 38.
