***sensitive picture sorry***

hi everyone,

It is my turn to ask for help today. I am pregnant from a transfer made of 5Nov. I had a very good embryo and a strong beta at J10 confirmed at J13 all was apparently ok. Since this morning I am bleeding + clots and I have discomfort/light pain. Had any of you had the same experience before, leading to a positive or negative experience? Please do not hesitate to be very direct, it is what helps me the most. Many thanks to all.

I leave it there just in case it is useful for someone. My beta at day 19 was 7216. I started bleeding this morning, ran to a private emergency service and the sac was there with the fœtus. It keep bleeding so I went to a public and more reknowed hospital and they confirmed that the sac had disappeared. So it is an early miscarriage unfortunately. It never happened to me before:

Many thanks - it is difficult because all the signs were positive. The betas of this pregnancy were higher than the beta of the two other pregnancies that I had by IVF and that went to term. I am so sad.

I’m so sorry this happened :( it’s awful when everything’s looking good then it all disappears. I’ve been there and many other women sadly, so please remember that you’re not alone. I hope you have lots of support around you xxx

I’m so very sorry to read this. A similar thing happened to me last year whilst I was at work and it was devastating.

I hope you have the support around you to look after yourself and process all of this. Wishing you strength. Xx

Thank you so much that’s very nice of you. My husband is really upset and acts as if I were responsible but it is the way he reacts in general. It will pass. It is so hard, it happened all of a sudden without warning. May I please ask whether you tried another transfer quickly after that?

I’m sorry that your husband is behaving like it’s your fault- it’s not. There was nothing you could have done and you’re already going to be feeling awful and in shock.

That was my 2nd consecutive miscarriage and I needed a break mentally and physically after. I didn’t have any more frozen embryos left either so haven’t done any transfers since. Due to my age (42 at the time), we decided to try some more cycles but this time with PGTA testing as we’d always transferred untested ones so I’m back to that phase of treatment.

Thank you for your answer. Now that it has happened once, I fear it is going to happen more. I a no longer bleeding this morning I feel everything left yesterday, within one day.

Your pregnancy was pretty early, so the bleeding won't last too long. My 1st miscarriage started at 5w1d and the pain and bleeding seemed more like a heavy period. After I passed the sac the pain stopped and I bled for a few more days, more like spotting.

Can I PM you the picture of the bleeding just to check whether you had something similar ? The pain was really light, it was more discomfort than anything else. In general my periods are not very painful, or not at all. It was a bit similar this time. What a bummer! Never a nice experience.

I had a similar experience at exactly the same time only it was a very painful bleed. Call your local EPU or clinic to have you checked. I ended up going private because the local EPU thought it was a miscarriage ad the clinic wanted to wait a bit longer before scanning. It turned out to be a large subchorionic haematoma, which apparently is quite common in IVF pregnancies and even more so if you are also on blood thinners. I was told to stop the baby aspirin immediately and to take it easy (no walking or standing for more than 20 minutes). Luckily, the hameatoma resolved itself by the 12w scan. Very best of luck!

Thank you so much for your message. I just received your message and my clinic just called me to tell me not to stop the medication and that they wanted to see me today at 4pm. As a stupid I stopped the medication yesterday night… I just took yesterdays dose of progesterone and this mornings at the same time. The thing is I went to one private hospital in the morning and saw the sac, I bled in the meantime, I went to a public hospital to make sure in the evening and she showed me the screen, the sac was no longer there. It is not like if we had not seen a sac before, and I saw it with my eyes.

What a roller foster of emotions you must have been in… May I ask how was your bleeding? Mine was with substance, it really left me no doubt.

How stressful for you! I am really sorry you are going through this. My bleeding was dark in colour and I did pass some tissue, though different from the one on the picture - bigger in size but different in colour. All fingers crossed for your scan today.
