Hi All, any advice welcomed! I have just had a scan at 5w3d. I had IVF and had a top grade embryo (the only one out of only 3 eggs) transferred at 5 days.
The scan picked up the embryo and everything was looking as it should for the timing - it seems to be growing well and they say they should be able to pick up a heart beat next week. However, next to it was a large hematoma/ haemorrhage. I haven't had any bleeding at all so far (not even spotting).
Has anyone else had this? What happened?
I've been told to stop exercising (I would normally swim/ cycle and occasionally jog) but otherwise they are just keeping an eye on it.
I've just gone through this but had a huge bleed about week 5 so they have took me off asprin. I've had 3 scans and I'm now 11 weeks and everything so far seems fine. It's still showing on my scans but I've not had any more bleeding.
Hi. I had the exact same thing and had a big bleed at 7 weeks and then some spotting up until about 10 weeks. By the 12 week scan the haematoma had gone. I now have a 5 month old little girl. Apparently they are quite common with IVF pregnancies. My IVF clinic just told me to take it easy and said that the vast majority clear up on their own but just be aware that you might have a bleed. I ended up having extra scans through the EPAU due to my continued spotting and that was very reassuring.
Hi! I am sorry you are going through this. I had a large hematoma that was discovered after a significant bleed at 6 weeks. They told me to stop the baby aspirin, work from home if possible and take it easy - no walks or standing up for more than 20 minutes, no lifting of anything even remotely heave. Fortunately, it resolved on its own by the 13 week scan. Good luck!
I had a big bleed at 5w6days, with lots of cramping etc as well, which I thought was the end but turned out to be a haematoma. It bled off and on for a couple of weeks and then wasn’t visible on a scan at about 9wks. I cut out all exercise and tried to take it as easily as possible. Sex ban too! Now 23wks and hoping the bleeding is well behind me. I’m also an ivf pregnancy - it might be good that you know in advance so that if you do bleed hopefully it doesn’t freak you out too much…
Thankyou tilly85 , Stevie85 Eloquentia 99pctpractice for all your words and experiences - this is definitely making me feel less worried as so far only positive experiences have been shared! Phew. I'm finding the no exercise hard - but have limited myself to a few stretches in the morning and walking and hoping that is still ok. I didn't get the advice of no sex from the dr, but I had read about that so guess I'll stick to that too (btw, if it isn't too much of a personal question for anyone! Is it no orgasm or no sex?! Unclear which is the dangerous bit of it!) Again, thank you everyone for replying - its my first time posting here and its just such a supportive responsive community!
