Has anyone done preimplantation generic screening test. I'm 40 years old and my IVF journey started 2 year ago. I have been through two IVF cycles, a total 3 transfers (one fresh & two FETs). The last one was done on 4th Nov and I found a positive result on 14th. However, it turned negative the following Mon so I was offered another two blood tests for HCG. It is very low and the second time it even came down a bit to 22mIU/ml. It seems to indicate a failing pregnancy and I'm worried it might turn out as an ectopic pregnancy as I experience one side cramping pain. It is really sad and hopefully I can find out a bit more with blood test and ultrasound scan next week.
I was told at my age group, the major reason for a failed pregnancy is due to the embryo that might be abnormal. I'd consider to do the screening test (PGT) as you would certainly understand how desperate I am after these many tempts. Has anyone done it? Any experience at all. Many thanks.

We chose to do it. I was 38 when we did our egg retrieval and with the odds of abnormal embryos at my age it felt like the right choice for us. We had 10 embryos and 6 came back as normal (4 abnormal). Im glad we did it as it gave us some peace of mind.
Thanks for sharing your story. Now I think of it and felt I was over optimistic. I have three embryos left and I would go ahead to do the screening test. I’m glad to hear you’ve got 6 healthy embryos. You’ve got a really good chance here and hope for the best if you are still in IVF journey.
oh sorry Alexie07. I heard the more cycles of IVF treatments you go through, the higher chance you’d have. I don’t understand the science behind of it but we can only try. Best luck and lots of hugs. Xx
Hi.I am your age. I had two rounds of Ivf (icsi). 7 transfers so far. 4 pregnancies like yours exactly( two with ivf , 2 natural). Miscarriage 1 week after positive test. Only now I have tested my 5 days frosen embryos. I had 3 left. From 3 only one was fine. So its worth doing it. Also I had some blood tests repeted a few times like lupus antibody and anticardiolipin antibody. These where a bit high and the doctor said it could be a cause for early miscarriage. So they gave me clexane.
thanks for the response and sharing your story. Yes I’ve done the blood test last time before transfer but I didn’t know it needed to repeat. The normal embryo should stand for a higher chance, wish all the best xx.
I am 39. We have just done this. On my previous cycle we got 11 eggs and 7 embryos. These resulted in a negative on fresh transfer. Transfer 2 frozen medicated transfer - chemical, transfer 3 double embryo frozen medicated transfer- chemical, transfer 4 natural frozen transfer of 2 embryos - BFP but miscarriage at 9 weeks, transfer 5 frozen 1 embryo - negative.
As we needed a second egg collection we opted to do pgta at the strong advice of our clinic. We got 13 eggs, leading to 4 embryos. About a month ago we got the results that 2 of those embryos were PGTA tested normal. So we are very pleased and glad we did it, although it is very expensive. We will be proceeding with a natural frozen single embryo transfer soon.
What a tough journey you have gone through ❤️( sending hugs) and I’m happy for you that you’ve got a healthy embryos available. Good luck to you with the next transfer. Xx
Hi, I’m 39 and had 4 natural miscarriages which is why we started IVF in the first place. Our clinic recommended PGT-A testing of all of our embryos- I also have very low AMH and high FSH so we only ever got 1-2 embryos per cycle to test. From 3 cycles we only had one euploid ( normal) and one mosaic embryo. I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant with our only euploid so it does work and in my opinion it’s worth it at our age. Good luck to you x
Thanks so much. It's so nice to hear some good news and definitely helps me to have more faith in the treatment. I'm so glad for you. Take care and wish you all the best x.
