Thrush before FET

hoping_for_our_time profile image

Hi, I have a frozen transfer planned for Tuesday. So much has gone into this as it's in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately the pessaries have made me very uncomfortable (since switched the progesterone pessaries to the back door). I am so sore and worried I might have thrush. I'm using cream and vaginal probiotics at night.

I'm stressing- should I be looking to cancel? (I will seek clinic's advice tomorrow)

Any success stories doing a transfer with thrush?

I'm a long time sufferer.

This canestan PH test suggests it isn't thrush. I don't have significant discharge though so didn't think it was BV. Any suggestions gratefully received

I got really sore before my natural FET and cancelled it but Consultation said they'd go ahead with thrush anyway. I just wanted everything to go perfectly. Anyway i had swab and urine at GP and it came back negative so think it was the stress and the tracking scans I had (5 internal scans on 7 days). I was a little sore before my FET that went ahead but it settled down and I always did pessaries rectally. It was a successful transfer

hi sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable, I don’t know about FET but you can try asking your GP to test you : VAGINAL & CERVICAL SWABS – FULL INFECTIONS SCREEN ( Aerobes & Anaerobes / Chlamydia / Ureaplasma/Mycoplasma) - I believe it’s a broad spectrum test so may tell you what the issue is. I also take 2 oral probiotics a day. Maybe minimise the use of perfumed products (just water (exterior surface only) unscented soap), wear comfortable cotton underwear. I will DM you a private lab in the UK that I found helpful if your GP has a long wait for test results. Good luck !

Hey sorry as I don't have a success story (I've had thrush while doing a fresh transfer) but even if it's something else going on down there I'd fill up on probiotics and probiotics over the next couple of days as sounds like youre out of balance likely triggered by your suppositories and stress of everything you've done to get there. Thinking about where you are I'd fill up on bananas, asparagus, leeks/onions and live yoghurt, kefir, sauerkraut, take no baths, wear loose cotton underwear and some walks in nature to try and chill as much as possible. Good luck xx

Thanks for replies. My doctor has advised cancelling the transfer. Gutted but think it's the right decision. Hope to get sorted and try again next month
