I have just had my fourth failed embryo transfer and we have to have a break from ivf for a while for financial reasons. I am 43 so we have been using donor eggs- but while we are saving up for another try we will try to conceive naturally - I don’t have much hope for this, but it’s worth a try and at least it’s free! Can anyone recommend any good suppleness for egg health? Thank you all ❤️‍🩹

I'm sorry for your losses ❤️ I hope you're coping. My consultant told me to take folic acid, vitamin c and d, coq10 200 mg twice a day, omega 3. In the 4 weeks leading up to egg collection I also took melatonin 3mg every night and DHEA due to my low testosterone.

Did you find the melatonin helped? I suffer from insomnia quite badly.

it definitely helped me sleep better however I was told not to use it for more than a month. there is limited scientific evidence that it may improve egg quality but I guess enough to recommend it just in case ..

if you do get it, and are in the UK make sure you get it prescribed by a doctor and do not buy online but from a pharmacy :)

I never heard it improves egg quality. Thanks for the tip- anything worth a try at this point!

it’s best to start a supplement regimen three months before. Ubiquinol 600mg a day, space out throughout day, myo inositol, dhea (if levels are low, get checked) vit d , vit e, seleuim & zinc. Omega 3, açai berry, Spirulina, wheat grass, procieve max prenatal. X best of luck.

Hi Salimali - am sorry to hear about your treatment. Am no supplement expert - I've taken my advice from Rebecca Fetts "It starts with the egg" but after my own failed IVF cycle in August I've tried going down a more natural route to give my liver a bit of a rest (and alongside acupressure and acupuncture) I think its working as my last period was a bit more normal (better flow, less spotting, fewer clots). I've started taking Maca harmony by Femmenessence, Celtic oysters, beef liver and a bag of brazil nuts of which I take one a day instead of a separate selenium supplement. Might be things for you to consider if you think your hormones are a bit out of sync? Good luck xx

Hi sorry about your losses. I would also suggest to read 'It Starts with the Egg', third (latest) edition. It is not just good for supplements, diet suggestions etc. but it also suggests test you can do for implantation failure etc. It might be worth checking this too as no matter how good the embryo is it will not stick and become a baby if there is something in the endometrium preventing it. Best of luck!

Hi Salimali44,

I would look into these for egg quality: nmn, coq10(ubiquinol) and resveratol. Here's a link explaining more about them if you're interested:

I also take myo inositol, vitamins c,d and e, zinc, nac, acetyl l carnitine, folinic acid, melatonin, magnesium.

My specialist also recommends L arginine, Lipoec, Selenium, Acai- it's a lot I know.

Wishing you all the best xx
