cyclogest- am i doing it wrong?

hello,

I am taking cyclogest rectally at the moment and I am kinda worried I am not pushing it up enough? Sorry for the TMI…lol I am fairly sure the bullet is inserted (as it doesn’t come out) and I kinda feel it melts right away… however I have always a bit of wax discharge ? Is that ok?

Also, been taking it for like 6 days now and I am getting hard stool and I have a bit of bright red blood when I wipe :( not fun! I am starting to think of taking lactulose or something to ease the stool, but may call the GP tomorrow as well!

I use it the same way, progesterone can cause constipation unfortunately and I had the same side effects, with a bit of fresh blood etc. lactulose is a good idea, I did the same and it improved, make sure to drink plenty with it.

As long as you get it in, you'll be absorbing it, particularly as you are getting the side effects! It's normal to have some residue when you have a bowel movement as well.

Best of luck 🙂

Hi. You’re dloing just fine. The pessary is designed to be absorbed by the mucks membrane lining of the rectum or vagina 20-30 minutes after insertion. Any waxy stuff that comes out is the carrier the medication is put in and is rubbish. Good luck. Diane

Thank you so much Diane! Sometimes it goes all the way up right away, other times I feel it melts internally and I have a bit of waxy discharge. But it has never popped out, it’s always INSIDe. I have to top it up with lubion so I hope 🤞 it gets my progesterone nice and high

You don’t need to put it in particularly far. I used to just put it in enough for it to not pop back out 😆. I didn’t get constipated from it but I do have the worlds most bleedy butt hole from it and it stings so bad. You are not alone 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😂😂😂

yes I had the same and some bleeding too, not nice! I swapped between rectally and vaginally to give each a bit of a rest! 😂

I know exactly what you mean. I have been taking it rectally this time round, and I wasn’t sure about doing it this way but the nurse recommended it compared it to vaginally. I did also ask her how far up it needed to go…and she said literally just pop it in and then squeeze your cheeks together for about 30secs and that is it. Personally I have found it better than doing it vaginally so far. I can’t comment on the side effects just yet as it’s only been two days for me so I don’t have any, but otherwise it does sound like your doing it right xx

yeah that’s what I do honestly . I am in my 2ww and the nurse added lubion as well. Sometimes cyclogest goes up IMMEDIATELY like I feel it goes right up, sometimes it kinda lingers and I feel it melting … and I have a bit of wax discharge

I do recommend buying some finger cots from Amazon to cover your finger, I always felt grossed out putting my bare finger up there rectally and never really got it in far, but with my finger covered I felt I could get it up much higher.

Omg this! I honestly read these comments and got the stuff you suggested and it was a game changer

I know! I tried once without, and now I’ve done about 300 and the finger cot is indeed a game changer 😂
