Pregnancy test recommendations and OTD

Hi everyone! Had our first FET yesterday (day 5 embryo) so looking for reliable pregnancy test recommendations so that we are organised for test day if I maybe need to purchase these online.

Side note, we anticipated that we would have been given a 2WW for OTD however our clinic have told us OTD will be on day 10, has anyone else had this?? I was pleasantly surprised however a bit dubious that might be a little early!

Thank you in advance ❤️

Hi. I really hope for a BFP for you. I’d recommend the clearblue digital early test as it flashes so you know you’ve dipped it in the urine long enough and then gives a clear answer rather than squinting over lines.

The 2WW includes the time from your egg collection too - like it would be called 2WW post ovulation in a natural cycle. You just get to jump ahead a few days! Best of luck

Congrats on your FET, I had FET (day 5 embryo) too. My clinic gave me OTD which was exactly 2 weeks from transfer day and they even supplied the pregnancy test. We then bought our own strips from Boots, just in case but honestly didn't need them. At the time I thought the 2WW was the longest wait ever but I'm learning that with this process you're always waiting for the next step and that process seems long. Anyway congrats again and best of luck with your journey. Xx😊

Thank you! Yeah, every single stage brings new worries, it’s relentless but we have to try our best to keep a positive mindset 🧘🏻‍♀️🤞🏼 Good luck with your journey too! ☺️

I used cheap strip tests off amazon and also purchased cheap tests from bodycare. I was however a serial tester & tested everyday and didn’t find the clear blue to be any better, in fact I wasted a lot of money on digital with the tests just not working. Sending lots of love and luck 🙏🏼 x

Hi Pinklily2, my experience is that the key is to wait until test date. You can drive yourself crazy with false positives and evaporation lines prior to the test date. First response early detection were the clearest ones for me and would definitely recommend you get a couple of those. I also used cheap pink test strips from amazon which were clear. I have had bad evaporation lines and unclear results from Clearblue and blue test strips but the Clearblue digital tests are good. However, when I waited until my test date (15dp5dt) and it was BFP any test at all was completely conclusive 🙂

Congrats on your transfer! My pts was day 10 as well. I used first response tests. Pink dye tests always work better for me.

I don’t recommend a test called NG Precision +. This is a home pregnancy test which is done with blood rather than urine. Pharmacist told me it was very accurate and it was horrible to use and gave a very very faint line compared to several “normal” clear blue early detection tests, despite the HCG threshold being the same. It wrongly says just “one drop of blood” which is a lie as you have to squeeze your finger like crazy, trying to drip blood into a small tube…

I’ll definitely be avoiding that one 😆 Thank you! ☺️

10 days is very normal it can vary by clinic but should be accurate. Boots early detection pink dye is my trusted test, does the exact same as a first response at a fraction of the price and always accurate for me no evap lines. I would also get a clear blue digital early test too as the words on the screen can also help. Avoid clear blue line ones at all costs!

Also If you end up feeling you want to test early don’t beat yourself up it’s completely up to you when you test (just bare in mind if you’ve had a trigger shot make sure it’s out your system or you can get a false positive) the clinic just make up a day that they are certain! I’ve never made it past day 8 without testing!

Sending you massive amounts of luck 🤞🏽💜

Very helpful, thank you! I think I’ll be able to avoid the urge to test early as we are to test on day 10 so for us that was a bonus and not 14 days like we originally anticipated 😅

Thanks 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼❤️

Another vote for Boots pink dye early detection. I also had a clear blue that shows number of weeks ready that I only used when I got a positive on the Boots one.

I generally get the one step tests from Amazon and have had very early positives on those. I got some wondfo tests this time and they did show up but they took a long time to darken so was worried about progression.

I’ve never made it to the otd without testing! My clinic is 13days which feels like forever. (I really tried to wait with my most recent cycle but I found the anxiety of the wait harder than the possibility of a negative). I think it’s a really personal thing.

Best of luck! 🤞

My clinic tells us not to use digital tests (although I don't recall why). They won't accept those, so I always use the ClearBlue ones.

I've heard the boots pink dye ones are good although I've never used them myself. I always go for a first response myself. It's nice to see the words 'pregnant' with a digital but if you get those I would do that alongside one with lines! I also recommend holding out until your official test day if you can, you will drive yourself insane comparing lines and looking for lines when it's too early!

My clinic also had our test day 10days after transfer so sounds about right, would technically be 15days post ovulation so would work in a natural pregnancy I think.

Good luck with your TWW!

Thank you, I’ve got a wee combo of tests including First Response, might need to ask my hubby to hide them though - Didn’t think I would be tempted to test early but knowing they’re in the cupboard is tempting 😬🤣 But gonna do my absolute best and go with the professional advice and the advice on here from you lovely ladies, 2WW is a minefield! x
