Anyone with a a1298c mthfr heterozygous mutation? Healthy pregnancy? Or mthfr mutation have healthy pregnancy? So worried
Have you spoken to a doctor about the implications of this mutation? As you seem very worried I think it would be useful to get a medical opinion. I have the same mutation and have never been too worried as it can be managed through things like blood thinners x
I have spoken to fetal medicine i had a first baby with cleft lip and palate who i lost at 21 weeks so im really scared that there was an association or what not . I think my anxiety is spiralling as my fet is soon plus these meds are not helping:(.
I know its the least of the problematic mutations being hetero and of the a1298c version but google has been horrendous scared about miscarriage aswell.
may i ask are you pregnant/or had a baby with this mutation? What type of mutation do you have?
I have been on 5mg folic acid since last year only because of the cleft lip and palate issue. So i hope my body has been converting the folic acid to folate stores.
Hi Uguvin, I'm so very sorry for your loss, I too, have experienced loss (due to other genetic issues) and I know just how traumatic this can be. I have the C677T heterozygous mutation and I just took extra folate along with my prenatal. Please don't worry too much about it. A great percentage of the population has some form of the MTHFR mutation and statistics range from 40% - 70% predicted to have it and there are many, many healthy babies born to these ladies. Most of these people aren't aware that they even have it, but as with this fertility journey, we analyze everything that other people don't even think of. Wishing you all the luck on your upcoming FET.
Thank you so much❤️
How much extra folate were you taking?
It depends on what brand I was taking, once it was the methylfolate/folacin it was fine, but now I take about 2000 IU on top of my prenatal. Carolyn Ledowsky does a lot of work with MTHFR and pregnancy so you can have a google of her. She does a lot of free webinars but there's also a lot, really a lot of information and genetic issues that she goes into. It's very informative but don't go down a rabbit hole about it if that will just increase your concerns.
