I just had my down reg scan, and lining looks good at 4cm, and ovaries are ‘quiet’, so I’m ready to start my stims this week,
the nurse did mention an Endometrioma and said ‘you’ve always had that and it’s smaller than 2cm so we are not worried’ - and of course, I am now worried
Does anyone have a similar experience? Or any positive stories? X
I have experienced something very similar. I have an endometrioma of similar size on one ovary and every fertility doctor has said they're not worried about it. But I have found myself in all sorts of rabbit warrens about it, trying to find out the implications. What I have found is that endometriosis and the advice given really seems to vary depending on the individual case and the symptoms you do / don't have.
Take a look at my previous posts if you like as you can see I have asked similar questions before and had some useful responses.
I can't be of much help other than that as I am experiencing/ have been experiencing similar concerns and confusion.
My endometriosis definitely effected getting pregnant naturally (deep adhesions mean my fallopian tube is blocked and stuck to my bowel) but egg retrieval and IVF went fine. They managed to access ovary with 3cm cyst.
thank you Luna, and I’m glad ivf went fie for you 💕 how long did you down reg for? I’m 3 days into stims after 2 week down reg with Synarel and I can already feel pain in my ovaries (assuming this is my endo playing up) 😵💫
I have an endometrioma (but no endometriosis diagnosis) on my right ovary and the only implication I had was lower numbers of egg retrieved because fewer follicles grew on that ovary.
Ultimately, although it’s ideal to retrieve a higher number of eggs, it’s quality over quantity and my baby boy was born in March the endometrioma has never been mentioned beyond egg retrieval.
Hi Elsidee. You should be ok, except that the ovary with the endometroma won’t yield as many eggs as the good one. You should be good to go, for if there was a problem, your specialist would remove it. Good luck. Diane
I have two endometrioma on one of my ovaries. They aren't sure if any further endometriosis is present anywhere else but I had a round of IVF in 2020 and have a little girl from it. As far as I know I think they affect my egg quality as we only got one viable embryo from 11 eggs
thank you SaHi, this could explain my last cycle where I had 14AFC and only retrieved 6 eggs, 3 mature and 1 fertilised 🥹 my last scan showed 19AFC and I’m 3 days into stims now, hoping scan on Wednesday is positive for potential collection w/c 15th x
I am currently in my second tww following a fresh embryo transfer - we got 5 eggs and 4 miraculously fertilised and one made it to blastocyst. None to freeze again. My husband has no issues and they were raving about his sperm. Really hope you get better results this time 🤞 we had a round in November as well which ended in none fertilised as we tried icsi to see how that affected fertilisation but they said it was too invasive for my eggs
