Follicles Too big for ivf cycle day 6

Hi all,

I'm currently on ivf cycle day 6 (day 8 of my period) and had my first scan this morning during stimulation, the biggest follicle is measuring 17. Is this too big at this stage? We are due to fly out to Prague tomorrow and have a scan on Saturday. Worried they will cancel

As far as I know, follicles should be 16-20mm in diameter when harvested for the best chances of a mature egg, so it looks like your cycle is going quite well. There's bound to be a couple that are either too big or too small at the time of collection as well. Good luck!

sounds fine to me, you will likely trigger very soon though! Sometimes we sacrifice the ‘bigger’ follicle to give the smaller ones time to catch up (this is when there is a lead follicle above 22mm) but they have never cancelled for one follicle being ‘too big’ before xx

I think most of mine were around 19 the day before I did the trigger.

I had 6, they took 5 of the best size, 4 fertilised and now I've got 3 frosties. I turned 43 in June x
