Hi. hope we are all doing well, even despite our situations? Please I need an advice because am trying to go through ED route because am 47years old and cannot produce enough eggs.
please I need an explanation regarding using fresh eggs or frozen eggs because I don’t understand the difference between the two and I would like to know which one is better.
Thank you

Hi there. I’m not sure that one is “better” than the other - it’s down to personal preference. I was eager to start my egg donor cycle as soon as possible, so chose to go down the ‘frozen’ route. The eggs had already been donated and were stored in the egg bank, so I could start my treatment pretty quickly. I also knew exactly how many eggs I was getting/buying. However, one of the downsides is that you might lose some of the eggs when they thaw them out (I lost more than I expected).
If you choose ‘fresh’ eggs, you have to wait for your donor to go through the IVF process, and you don’t know how many eggs you’re going to get. However, you don’t have the thawing risk.
I did quite a bit of research on the pros and cons of fresh and frozen before I made my decision - there’s quite a bit of info online. Wishing you the very best of luck x
