Evening all, I am looking for a good quality prenatal vitamin. Normally just taken pregnacare but there are a lot of others- any recommendations gratefully received.

Thank you!

I'm taking zita west's ivf package. It'd expensive but seems to have everything I would need and more.

Hello! Pregnacare is absolutely fine to keep taking. I’ve been using it the entire time, and my sister who has two children used it in both her pregnancies. Also, consultants recommend it, so no need to change to something else if you’re getting on okay with it 😊 x

My Functional nutritionist recommended Inessa Pregnancy Multi after a GP blood test showing low-ish serum iron and ferritin and Wild Nutrition Fertility Support (with less iron) after these improved.

Now that I'm pregnant I take Terranova Prenatal Multi for a higher iron content. Wild Nutrition and Terranova are food derived and don't use fillers or binders - but Terranova is more affordable.

All three contain 400mcg of methylfolate instead of folic acid, which is a more bioactive form of folic acid - It Starts With The Egg recommended it in case you have MTHFR gene mutation hence are less capable of converting folic acid.

I'm taking Proceive conception and omega.

I had a call with Wild Nutrition last week who explained that my Proceive tabs are ok, but they do include artificial fillers. I'll finish this supply of Proceive and then switch to Wild Nutrition I think. Their fertility supplement includes folate too, not folic acid which is the less powerful synthesised version .

I'm also taking

Magnesium

Coq10 from Holland and Barrett

Evening primrose oil

75mg DHEA advised by my clinic

12 combination tissue salts

Shatavari (Ayurvedic)

I'm still researching supplements and what else I'd benefit from. My energy levels can be quite low.

I know I need a lot of sunshine. I also had hands in soil gardening on the weekend and it gives me a similar feeling to when im in salt water or lying on sand. Going to get hands dirty every day. I live in India half of each year and spend most of my time outdoors so have become very in tune

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions- lots to look into which is what I wanted. Even if I stick with pregnacare I want to check out the other options x

I took Proceive (as did my husband) but now am on Wild Nutrition. I am vegan and bloodwork came back great, my iron is up loads and I am sure its these supplements.

The cheapest possible - they pretty much all have the same formula. I used Seven Seas pregnancy one and stockpiled the last of their old range - about £6/pack instead of £20ish. The prices of some of these are ridiculous. I worked in Vitamin manufacturing in the 1990's and I can tell you they are all pretty much made by one or two manufacturers and labelled as another company. Even my doctor told me to get the cheapest and that Pregnacare was not worth the money as it is no different to a supermarket brand/Boots.
