Hi all, looking for success stories please. I recently began my IVF journey (single woman using donor). Everything had been fine, no health issues, lots of follicles etc and then during my monitoring scans a polyp was discovered that wasn’t there before. The clinic believe this was probably caused by the hormones from the injections. I was supposed to be having a fresh transfer in this cycle but due to the polyp was told I would have to do freeze all instead and have a frozen transfer once I had a hysteroscopy. I had my egg collection last week and they got 14 eggs, the next day I found out that only 2 eggs fertilised which was unexpected and upsetting. I know it only takes one but it’s still a hit when you expect different results. On day 3 both were still going strong, one was an 8 cell grade 2 so the clinic said they were going to freeze that one that day so I had it as a back up. The other was a 7 cell grade 2 so they wanted to try and get it to day 5 before freezing. I find out tomorrow whether it made it to blastocyst and so nervous.
Has anyone gone on to have success with a day 3 frozen embryo? Would love to hear some positive stories to ease my mind a little!

24 follicles, 16 collected, 9 mature, 3 fertilised.…chemical with the first and two boys with the second and third. It can happen, I know it’s a punch to the face when the numbers drop so much but sometimes those are just the right ones that you need xxx
I only had one fertilise normally from 6 mature eggs collected. He’s now 2.5 years old. Hang in there, I know how hard it is. I thought it was disastrous when the embryologist told me I only had one normally fertilise (also using sperm donor), but the cycle with the worst numbers brought the best success 🍀🍀
My clinic didn’t do day 3 transfers so I had to wait until day 5 and fully expected to have nothing to transfer. Keep going 🍀 everything crossed for you xx
I think I could say the same things the others have said.
My first ivf I had 2 blasto and on the first try i've got pregnant...later I had other complications but I think what matters is to follow the doctors advice and cross fingers it will be only 1 that you will need.🤞
On our first cycle of IVF we had 10 mature eggs and only 1 fertilised despite good sperm parameters and no visible issues with the eggs and I'm 33 so age shouldn't be a problem. The call from the embryologist really knocked me (I literally felt like I'd been punched to the stomach) and then we had the agonising wait until day 5 to see if it had made it so I know how you feel. It did make it and we did an FET with it (due to OHSS risk) but a negative pregnancy test unfortunately. We then had a post-cycle consultation and they said they weren't concerned, although they couldn't really explain why the fertilisation was so poor other than it was a 'binding issue', and they just recommended ICSI for next time. Next time we had only 7 mature eggs but 5 fertilised and 2 made it to day 5. We did a fresh transfer this time and I'm currently nearly 11 weeks pregnant. So just to give you hope that just because one time you experienced this fertilisation issue it doesn't mean it will be that way every time should you need another round. And if you're not already doing ICSI that might be the right way forward. But here's hoping you don't need it and this round is a success!
I collected 6 eggs two fertilised and both were frozen on day 1. I had to have a myomectomy and so immediate transfer wasn't an option. It took a while before they could both be transferred and when they were both implanted. Sadly I lost one early on as they stopped growing around week 6 but the other is still going strong and I am in my 18th week of pregnancy. It really does just take one. 💖
Thank you all for your comments and positive stories, it really did help to ease my mind a little and keep that hope. My second made it to blasto and was frozen so I’m keeping everything crossed. Just need to get the hysteroscopy and can continue on my journey :). Wishing you all the luck in the world with your own journeys.
Hi lovely I just wanted to wish you all the best of luck with your 2 embryos , I hope you have the success you deserve 🤞🏼🤞🏼
I’m currently waiting to see how many (out of 4 fertilised) make it, and I can relate as it’s truly agonising , glad it all worked out well for your 2 embryos in the end ❤️
hey! This is such great news! I am looking into starting my first cycle using donor sperm and I am very nervous, I have been diagnosed with DOR so really keeping my fingers crossed. Do you mind me asking where you had your treatment done? I was advised to look abroad, and I was thinking maybe Spain.. do you or anyone else have experience with clinics abroad?
