Electrolytes in IVF

I am in my 2nd ivf-icsi cycle building up to egg collection in a few days. I had what I think was mild ohss on my first cycle. I took electrolytes before and after egg collection and do feel it helped. I have more follicles than I did last cycle and hoping for more eggs but wonder if this will inc my risk of ohss.

When have others taken electrolytes?

I am what I suspect 4 days pre collection if things go as planned.

Many thanks in advance

Technically more follicles mean higher chance of ohss. Rest well and monitor your weight.

Hi! I developed OHSS after my egg collection and was at high risk of it due to PCOS. The advice of my clinic for helping prevent it was a protein-rich diet. Apparently protein helps absorb the excess liquid that builds up. They told me to take a few protein shakes or yoghurts per day after egg collection. I think those helped. Like you, I also drank sports drinks rich in electrolytes but not until I developed it. Good luck! I hope you don't develop it...
