Over exercise in the two ww

Hi ladies, hope you're all doing as well as you can. I'm 3dp 5dt, Frozen but natural cycle . Decided to go on holiday with some friends, but think I might have blown it all this morning. We're in swanage and we wanted to walk to a castle, the route looked about 40 minutes and it didn't look too bad. But in reality I feel like I overexerted myself, climbing up hills, we were also in a hurry cuz we were late, Aunt. I don't do that much exercise normally so I felt very unfit and hot and basically felt like I was doing all the things that they tell you not to do .

I know I'm allowed to do some exercise, and I know it's going to be pretty difficult to judge, but does anybody have any success stories from overexerting too much just once, maybe only for an hour, at this stage of the procedures? I did try and tell my friends that I didn't want to do it like that but I know walking is also good for me. I just didn't realize quite how steep the hills would be, and how late we were going to be for the castle event. In the end the event we were trying to reach wasn't backed great. Anyway, it was all right, but I'm not sure if it really was worth rushing around through paths and Fields and styles. I was never full pelt running, but it just felt like I was breaking so many tww rules.

I'm sure it doesn't make much difference really, but I just wanted some opinions .

Anyone else in the two ww feel free to reach out, it's so tough isn't it? And I'm only on day three and driving myself crazy as I always do!

Thanks very much for reading and keep strong all of you.

I'm currently 2dpt so I'm right in the trenches with you! Feel free to message if you want a tww buddy ☺️

All guidance does say not to go too hard with exercise, but at the end of the day, what's done is done now. Instead of worrying how much you over did it, think about how important it is to keep your blood flowing and you definitely smashed that today. Just make sure you've also drunk plenty of water if you got a good sweat on

Good luck xx

hi lovely I hope you’re well, please be kind to yourself, I was told by the consultant after our first transfer that I could run as normal right after ( I didn’t out of precaution) their argument is that in non ivf pregnancies people carry on with their routines as it would be too early for them to know. As long as your body is used to this it shouldn’t be a concern, next time if you’re planning long walks etc make sure to take little breaks every 30 min or so, wishing you all the best of luck !

The liklihood is it will have made no difference or if anything it may have helped with blood flow . The old guidance used to be more towards stay at home and rest (a bit like they used to say with pregnancy generally) whereas now the clinics encouarge what they call gentle exercise. The bit about not over exerting yourself is aimed mainly at avoiding any strain to your abdomen as there is a theory this could increase the chance of ectopic but that's not really what you're doing with vigorous walking, or running - it's more don't start lifting weights if you don't normally. The embryo is miniscule (smaller than a grain of sand) and and you can't really stretch the womb lining from external influence (it's all scrunched up and cushioned at the time of transfer). The over exertion is also don't do anything extreme - like don't suddenly take up iron man or doing several marathons, as the stress on your body could be too much, but even then it would probably need to be prolonged so as to involve a significant clorie deficit or trauma to your body - think of the circumstances women get pregnant in naturally. It's hard not to worry but at this stage there is very little you can do or not do that will have any impact, and the exercise you did sounds like it could have increased blood flow and you were outside with friends (releases endorphins) and all sounds pretty healthy.

I did the same at 5dp5dt, but still got a positive test. I don't normally exercise, and in this case went on a day cycle and exerted myself more than usual. I don't think you have done anything harmful, and you've probably done some good physically and mentally. At the end of the day, you haven't done anything that crazy, and if the embryo is going to implant, you can't stop it.

I similarly went on holiday in my 2ww and did lots of walking again with hills that were much steeper than anticipated. I probably walked for about 2 hours a day and up the hills was out of puff. Got my first BPF at the end so try not to stress or lose hope. Best of luck!

I did loads of walking from 3dp5dt over a long weekend and got my bfp shortly after . I would say it definitely helps xxx

DH and I had to pack for a move from London to Liverpool. As I was off work, most of the packing was left to me which included lifting boxes. Although I left the heaviest ones for hubby. I still exerted myself and went on a long journey eating junk motorway food but still got a BFP.

As others have said, some exercise is good for some blood flow. I really wish you luck because the 2WW can be agonising!

I honestly wouldn’t beat yourself up I don’t think you have given yourself less chance of it working. When I conceived my youngest daughter I was pushing, lifting carrying and running around a very active toddler! She was very healthy big baby that was 9lbs 15oz ( it surprised people as I was an older mummy at 40 😂👌🏻) really believe if the baby is right there is very little one could do to dislodge it😍 wishing you the best with the rest of 2ww and hope you get a BFP Xx

Please don't beat yourself up over it. While doctors typically advise caution with strenuous exercise during this time, it's important to remember that occasional moderate activity like walking is usually safe. In fact, the likelihood is that your adventurous day might have actually been beneficial, both physically and mentally. Increased blood flow from the activity could potentially be a positive factor for your body. Take a deep breath and try to let go of any guilt. or worry. Hang in there, stay positive, and take care of yourself. xx

I wouldn’t spend any time on focusing on this….I was really careful during my transfers and the one that actually worked I was less conscientious. I still did as I was told but did things like carrying bags, putting the bins out and gentle exercise which I hadn’t done with the other transfers.

I also had it where I ended up running (more like jogging) to our car to avoid a parking ticket and still ended up pregnant! 🤣 xx
