Think I’m loosing the pregnancy 😢

I am 4w6days pregnant, and today I had bright red bleeding (more than what would be classed as spotting) accompanied by abdominal cramps all day.

I’m fairly certain this is the end of the road. Devastated. Can anyone tell me what I might expect to happen next? How long will the bleeding and cramping last? This was a FET and I was on progesterone but have stopped taking it now.

I’ve contacted my clinic but not heard anything. I was supposed to be having a scan on 20 May. Suspect we won’t anymore. Can’t believe it’s over.

Don't stop taking progesterone until your clinic say so. I was bleeding very early on the colour of blood vary from pink to red and brown. I was occasionally bleeding and spotting up to 12 weeks. There is still hope.

It's scary but bleeding is quite common in early pregnancy, especially IVF for some reason. It can be bad news but there are so many women on here who've had bleeding and had successful pregnancies. I had spotting which got heavier and it turned out to be a benign growth on my cervix and all the new blood vessels etc. Keep taking the meds and wait for your clinic to advise you, or you can try your GP or EPU. You could also do a urine pregnancy test as it should still be early enough for the HCG to be showing good lines, and that may give you a bit more reassurance or at least an indication of whether the HCG has or is dropping.

I had light bleeding 6weeks and they upped my medication. Today I'm 10 weeks and this morning I had a very light bleeding too. Waiting for my appointment on monday. My advice is to keep taking your medication. Hopefully everything will be ok 🤗

I bled heavily for 16 weeks in my last pregnancy but went on the have a healthy baby. I know it’s a worrying sign and could be the start of a miscarriage, but there are also multiple other causes for bleeding in early pregnancy (mine turned out to be caused by a polyp). So please don’t stop your meds until you’ve seen a doctor to confirm what’s causing the bleeding.

Please don’t stop taking your progesterone until your clinic have told you to! I had two huge bright red bleeds in my 5th and 6th weeks but it wasn’t my pregnancy. Could only put it down to my cervix being irritated from the progesterone. My twins are almost two now!! Has the bleeding stopped?

Xxx

No, I’m still bleeding, not tonnes but like a slow trickle - so it’s been 24 hours now. I am also having cramps. I hope it’s not a miscarriage, but I just don’t have a good feeling about it. 😢

I had quite heavy bleeding at around 5 6 and 7 weeks of my current pregnancy and all was fine I’m 23 weeks now. There was no obvious cause but I think bleeding is more common in ivf. Hope things work out for you xx

hello! I had a bleed at 8 weeks (think chicken fillets just falling out in the loo at work). It was huge. I had to wait in the loo and flush a couple of times for it to actually flush away. Called the clinic and they asked me to come in for a scan and it was all fine. I am 12 weeks today. It was a hematoma. Nothing to be done just had to let it sort itself out. Very very common in IVF pregnancies. Don’t stops meds until you know for sure.

Thank you for this. Reassuring to hear others do bleed. Did you have bad cramping with it? I did, which is why I think it’s all over.

It was a very heavy downward pressure in the groin area - more intense than a period pain.

Yes, that’s similar to what I had. I think probably more noticeable as I don’t really suffer with bad period pain usually. So glad that everything worked out well for you x

when is your scan? When I had moments during my 12 weeks of insecurity I just went in for private scans. Many places in London. I just needed reassurance.. I am still very nervous and I don’t feel out of the woods but that’s a whole other ball game. Keep us posted!

Thank you for all taking the time to reply. I have a scan booked for 6w+1 at the EPU via my GP (my Clinic, who I’ve paid thousands too haven’t even responded yet). Hoping that will give me some answers. Cramping has stopped but bleeding continuing although much lighter, and VERY bloated. Pregnancy tests still strong. Praying for a miracle. X

don’t stop the progesterone. I know of a number of people who bled heavily in early pregnancy and the baby was fine. They had a hematoma xxx

Thank you all - my pregnancy tests have significantly faded today 💔 - I suspect by the time my scan comes around I’ll be testing negative. Good luck to everyone on their own journeys. X

How are you holding up? I am in the same boat right now. It is so frustrating. I almost feel it would have been easier if the test was never positive to begin with. It just gives you the glimmer of hope and then it’s all taken away again.

Hey, I’m so sorry to hear that. I am doing ok, I think I’m not on a bit of a hormone come down so felt pretty low today. I’m just exhausted from it. As you say, weirdly, I wish too it just didn’t work - this is much harder, as there were small moments where I thought it would work. How are you feeling about next steps? X

I honestly don’t know. Part of me wants to start another cycle as soon as possible and part of me wants to stop. I feel like years of this have consumed me completely and that I just need to move on. But then I wonder what if it will work next time? I am such a mess. What about you? Do you feel like trying again?
