maximise chances of fresh transfer

How can I increase my chances of having a fresh transfer? In the past, I was told that having many collected eggs prevented a fresh transfer. I'm having another egg collection this week, is there anything I can do? I have again many follicles. I asked my clinic, but I did not get any answers.

Good luck with your collection! They will have to check your progesterone level after collection; if it's low enough they will be able to go ahead. Not much you can do about it; depends on whether any of the follicles have already raptured prior to collection and the more follicles you have the more likely it is. Also, I think if it's over 20, they just won't go ahead as it will be too difficult to control your hormones and put you into the correct timeline of the lutheal phase. The silver lining is that frozen transfers seem to have a higher pregnancy rate. Good luck and fingers crossed!

hi I had 19 collected and on the EC day was told they recommend freeze. I really wanted a fresh so they told me to attend the clinic a couple of days later for a check up/ bloods. I managed to do a fresh even though I have pcos/ oshh risk.

I drank a lot of water (8 glasses per day), coconut water is also very good. I also tried to eat a high protein diet as that is also supposed to help. And plenty of rest!

Is there a particular reason you want to do a fresh transfer? I didn't realise at the time but frozen transfers tend to have a slightly better success rate. Also I felt much more recovered for a frozen transfer than I did for fresh and I think my body was in a much better state. Plus the frozen transfer process can be much gentler- from fully medicated to going completely off your natural cycle, depending on your circumstances. Many women have successful fresh transfers but I would just weigh up whether your body is in the best condition (sounds like your clinic may gave some concerns) and if you might regret doing it fresh if it doesn't work, rather than waiting a bit for frozen. You also need to consider your own health and OHSS can be serious.
