I was due to have my prostab injection today but I’m having Zoladex instead. I’ve read in the past that it’s painful and googled a pic of the needle 🤯 needle looks huge. I normally have Buserelin but there’s a shortage .
Doctor or nurse will be giving it to me later today, is it really awful , is there a massive difference between zoladex and prostab? And any tips / advice?
Thanks

They are very similar and work in the same way - the main difference is in how they are given Prostap is either given im [intramuscular injection ] or sc [subcutaneous injection -just under the skin ]While Zoladex is given sc [top layer of fatty tissue ] into the abdomen The nurse should be able to answer all your concerns
Hi Rol81, I had Zoladex injections for 2 months prior to fibroid removal surgery last summer and it was completely fine. I barely noticed the needle going in and was surprised that the nurse had to administer it, as it was no different to a normal IVF infection into the abdomen. I had some side effects including hot flashes at night and some sleep issues, but it was generally fine. Best of luck.
Hello ☺️ thanks I had it yesterday. You’re right it wasn’t bad at all, although the one I had was defo way bigger than the normal ivf injections so I’m glad the doctor did it for me.
