Trying to understand what happened to my embryos.

Me again… sorry but I can’t think of much else.

Calcium inophore was used ( my last round 2/3 fertilised but didn’t progress - there was a 4 cell and one 8 cell morula but other factors meant I wasn’t down for a fresh transfer)

Round 2 - All 4 eggs were mature,

one disintegrated on injection. .

Two fertilised and the sperm could be seen inside them according to the embryologist, but they did not progress.

One made it to a low grade blast. This was my last nhs cycle so it’s gutting there is nothing left to transfer.

Husbands sample looking normal now but waiting on dna frag test.

Low amh (1.8) maybe lower now …and 39 (nearly 40) years old. It’s hard when there’s no real explanation given. I guess egg quality is a huge factor but I can’t stop wondering.

Hi - which part are you stuck on? Have you thought about a second opinion? xx

second opinion with who? I spoke to the embryologist but I don’t understand the reasons why the sperm could be seen inside but nothing happened. And how I had one good quality and the rest failed

hi Cuppppatea - this happened to me on my second round. 4 mature eggs, they injected sperm into each one but none fertilised, it’s generally down to the egg quality. I tweaked my drugs for 3rd round and used calcium ionophore (I know you had a bad experience) and we had 11 fertilise. Our blasts did turn out to be all abnormal, but generally speaking if the eggs fail to fertilise during icsi and the sperm is looking ‘good’ it’s an egg quality issue. Your embryologist should be able to explain this to you though. Sorry you’re going through this.x
